How can I cut segments of audio/video while keeping the other track intact in ffmpeg ?
8 novembre 2022, par limejellodragonI am a newer user to ffmpeg, but I have a slightly complicated use case for it. I need to be able to cut multiple sections out of a video and/or multiple sections out of the audio, with the actual length of the video and audio files remaining intact (e.g. the audio would cut out but the video continues, or the video continues but the audio cuts out). I have been slowly learning about complex filtergraphs, but a little help would be VERY much appreciated.

this is currently my super basic "test script" to see if I can get it to work (in it's actual use case, the timestamps will be variables in a python program)

ffmpeg -i bdt.mkv -filter_complex
 [0:v]trim=start=10.0:end=15.0,setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[0v];
 [0:a]atrim=start=10.0:end=15.0,asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[0a];
 [0:v]trim=start=65.0:end=70.0,setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[1v];
 [0:a]atrim=start=65.0:end=70.0,asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[1a];[0v][0a][1v]
 [1a]concat=n=2:v=1:a=1[outv][outa] -map [outv] -map [outa] out.mp4

Why ffmpeg hangs encoding a void audio track ?
23 août 2023, par SkizZOI've googled an entire day experimenting all possible solutions, but noone had worked.
I have 2 HIK dvr (one is prehistoric vith analogic video). I've made a bash script to retrieve X seconds (as input) of the DVR stored videos (it cut seconds if video ends early) ; also record X seconds of Live view (used for saving Motion Alert in Home assistant).

All works well, BUT i have some issues, and the big one is that when the video has no audio, the download hangs at 9.96 seconds for the old device, and 9.97sec for the new (damn !).

Now let's look at the commands and the logs.

Command : this works with cams with audio, but hangs if cam has an audio silent track ?

makejob=$(ffmpeg -fflags +genpts -y -ac 1 -channel_layout mono -rtsp_transport tcp -hide_banner -loglevel info -err_detect ignore_err -i "rtsp://$user:$dvrpasswd@$dvraddress:554/ISAPI/streaming/tracks/${camnumber}01?starttime=$starttime&endtime=$endTime" -map 0:v -map 0:a? -ar 44100 -filter:a "volume=$volume" -t $seconds -acodec aac -vcodec copy $filepathname)

(A) result Cam with audio : errors too, but works recording both video and audio

I suppose it's due to the missing timestamps. Note that also when there is no audio, there is an audio track in the video. It hangs when trying to encode that void track.

(i will comment with logs where no audio is recorded, it works with some errors... maybe other useful infos are there)

Media-players show longest duration of multi-track MP4 files from FFmpeg [closed]
9 juillet 2024, par EasonWaiiI need to merge two videos into one using ffmpeg. The resulting video should have two video tracks and one audio track, with the audio track taken from the longer video.

When playing the merged video in a player like PotPlayer or VLC, it should default to playing the shorter video track. However, users should be able to switch to the other video track if they want.

The problem I am facing :
Everything is working fine, except when the player defaults to the shorter video track, it shows the timeline of the longer video track.
