Cannot find installation of real FFmpeg (which comes with ffprobe)
29 mars 2023, par Asm GoniI was trying to fit a generator into a model and I got this error :

AssertionError: Cannot find installation of real FFmpeg (which comes with ffprobe).

I have looked over many of the solutions on GitHub and other questions on Stack Overflow but none of them worked for me.

Here is one of the commands I ran :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mc3man/trusty-media
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ffmpeg
sudo apt-get install frei0r-plugins

pip list
also indicates the presence offfmpeg-1.4

In addition, I tried force reinstalling and updating ffmpeg just in case any dependencies were not installed properly.

I also set the skvideo's path for ffmpeg manually :

skvideo.setFFmpegPath('/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/ffmpeg/')

This returns :
/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/skvideo/__init__.py:306: UserWarning: ffmpeg/ffprobe not found in path: /usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/ffmpeg/
 warnings.warn("ffmpeg/ffprobe not found in path: " + str(path), UserWarning)

By the way, when I try installing, it also returns this error, I don't know what to do about this :

Get:127 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 vdpau-driver-all amd64 1.1.1-3ubuntu1 [4,674 B]
Fetched 60.4 MB in 7s (8,769 kB/s)
E: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/w/wavpack/libwavpack1_5.1.0-2ubuntu1.1_amd64.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.88.149 80]
E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?

I ran
apt-get update --fix-missing
and that didn't make anything better.

Is there a solution to this ?

Pydub installation and ffmpeg
6 août 2021, par Lone LunaticI was trying to get raw sound data out of a
.mp3
file. Therefor I used the pydub module as stated here. I created avenv
for this project and installed all necessary modules. But for some reason, pydub decided to give me anFileNotFoundError
:

(venv) Python-IT:LightsDev pythonit$ which python
/Users/pythonit/Documents/Programmieren/Python/LightsDev/venv/bin/python
(venv) Python-IT:LightsDev pythonit$ which pip3
/Users/pythonit/Documents/Programmieren/Python/LightsDev/venv/bin/pip3
(venv) Python-IT:LightsDev pythonit$ pip3 list
------------- -------
ffmpeg 1.4
pip 18.1
pydub 0.23.0
pyee 5.0.0
python-ffmpeg 1.0.5
setuptools 39.0.1

My exact code looks like that :

from pydub import AudioSegment
sound = AudioSegment.from_mp3('test.mp3')
raw_data = sound._data
print(raw_data)

and I get this error :

FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'ffprobe': 'ffprobe'

alongside this runtime warning :

RuntimeWarning: Couldn't find ffmpeg or avconv - defaulting to ffmpeg, but may not work
warn("Couldn't find ffmpeg or avconv - defaulting to ffmpeg, but may not work", RuntimeWarning)

I don't know if it is me, but some similar questions stating I should install ffmpeg or python-ffmpeg won't work. I can even import the ffmpeg module but nothing happens. I can work with ffmpeg and load files but using it with pydub won't work.

EDIT : Today I changed to my windows machine and looked at the error in-depth. However I didn't manage to get it working, even with the solution provided in the comments (thank you though). I installed the ffmpeg binary as stated and i was able to get
ffmpeg
running in the shell, however not withpydub
... I have no clue what is going on. I guess my mistake is very obvious and I am just not able to get it. Even not subprocess was able to solve this problem despite the fact, that I am able to use ffmpeg in shell. I even was able to convert the file using ffmpeg in shell...

ffmpeg -i test.mp3 test.wav
 > Output #0, wav, to 'test.wav':

I think I am close to solve the problem myself anyways, but thank you anyways.

ffmpeg installation : pkg-config can't find package (using Homebrew)
21 septembre 2018, par Rico PiconeI’m trying to install
ffmpeg
with Homebrew using the commandbrew install ffmpeg --with-freetype
but get
ERROR: freetype2 not found using pkg-config
If I check
/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig
, the filefreetype2.pc
exists. In fact,pkg-config --list-all
includes
freetype2
.I’ve tried reinstalling
pkg-config
andfreetype
with Homebrew, reinstallinggit
, updating Homebrew, upgrading Homebrew, uninstalling and reinstalling all Homebrew packages, etc.brew doctor
gives mostly a bunch of warnings about dylibs, config scripts, and header files, probably from recently moving to a new machine and copying files. I thought the config scripts might be related, but they’re allpyenv
shims.I’m ok with a nuclear fix, but I feel like I’ve tried every nuclear option I know other than creating an entirely new user account.
