  • Optimize x264 based remote desktop by dirty regions

    23 novembre 2016, par useprxf

    I was using x264 to achieve remote desktop, but had some problems on handling P_SKIP detection.

    Dirty regions indicate changed areas. I would like to encode those macroblocks which don't intersect any dirty region as P_SKIP types.

    I inserted the following code into x264_macroblock_prob_skip_internal function:

    if (! h->isdirty[h->mb.i_mb_x][h->mb.i_mb_y] && ! M32(h->mb.cache.pskip_mv))
        return 1;

    but there is almost no speed-up. I think it may be the information preparation for the macroblock analysis that takes influence.

    My question is how to speed up x264 by considering dirty regions?

  • FFmpeg compilation with encoder x264 not found Windows

    FFmpeg compilation with encoder x264 not found Windows

    I am trying to compile FFmpeg with several encoder (x264, NVENC). I already managed to compile FFmpeg with MinGW and also x264 but I do not know how I can tell where my compiled encoders are.

    I have a folder where my FFmpeg sources are and in this directory I have my compiled x264 encoder in a subfolder called x264.

    OS: Windows 10

    Compiler: MinGW

  • gstreamer x264enc change codec major brand to isom

    17 novembre 2016, par art vanderlay

    I have update to gstreamer 1.10 and when encoding to mp4 using x264enc I am getting a format profile that I need to change.

    Using ffmpeg x264

    major_brand     : isom
    minor_version   : 512
    compatible_brands: isomiso2avc1mp41
    Video: h264 (Constrained Baseline) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuv420p,

    using gstreamer x264enc

    major_brand     : mp42
    minor_version   : 0
    compatible_brands: mp42mp41isomiso2
    video: h264 (Constrained Baseline) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuv420p(tv, bt470bg/smpte170m/bt709)

    How can I change the profile in x264enc so it matches the ffmpeg specifications of isom and remove the additional yuv420(...)information to a default
