  • How to run ffmpeg command from the client side ?

12 janvier 2017, par Debraj Biswas

I am trying to make an online examination portal. When students start the exam, their webcam will start automatically and record the stream live and store in the server. Invigilators will either watch the students live or they can watch the saved live streams later.

After many research on various technologies I came across this link. It uses Node JS with websockets and ffmpeg. I ran the ffmpeg command and it streamed the live video successfully.

But the problem is, in order to live stream, the students have to have ffmpeg installed in their system and they should run the command directly from the terminal. So how can I change this ? The students will live stream from their browser, because this is a web portal. If we put this command in a PHP script, then the command will run at the server side. But client side command should run in this case. How can I run command from client side ?

    Any suggestions will be helpful.

  • Using ffmpeg with Python3 subprocess to convert multiple PNGs to a video

    17 décembre 2016, par ylnor

I am using Python3, subprocess and ffmpeg to convert multiple PNG images into a single video.

    I have 400 PNG numbered as "00001.png".

This call for one single specific image to a a one-frame-video works :

    subprocess.call(["ffmpeg","-y","-r","24","-i", "00300.png","-vcodec","mpeg4", "-qscale","5", "-r", "24", "video.mp4"])

However, when I try some methods seen online for calling all of my images formated as "#####.png" using "%05d.png" as below, it does not work anymore :

    subprocess.call(["ffmpeg","-y","-r","24","-i", "%05d.png","-vcodec","mpeg4", "-qscale","5", "-r", "24", "video.mp4"])

I receive the error : "%05d.png: No such file or directory".

I have the feelling that the above syntax is proper to Python2 and not working on my python3 but can’t find the correct python3 syntax anywhere.

Thanks in advance for your help

  • vc1dsp : Change remaining stride parameters to ptrdiff_t

vc1dsp : Change remaining stride parameters to ptrdiff_t

The existing x86 assembly for loop filters uses the stride as a
full register without clearing/sign extending the upper half
    of the registers on x86_64.

This avoids crashes if the caller would have passed nonzero bits
in the previously undefined upper 32 bits of the parameters.
