  • Screenshot from video in memory without writing video or screenshot to disk

    28 février 2015, par user1401321

I’m working on a application which processes a substantial quantity of video files. One of the processing steps involves creating a storyboard of the video contents by taking screenshots at certain points.

Currently we are accomplishing this by writing the video from memory to disk, calling ffmpeg to generate a screenshot at a specified time, reading the screenshot to memory, then deleting both the video and screenshot from disk.

The problem is that this is a substantial number of large disk operations, which are turning into a bottleneck.

Ideally, what I’d like to do is to take the screenshots without ever writing the video or screenshot to disk ; The video is contained in memory at the time of processing, and all the videos have been transcoded to the mp4 format.

Is there a way to accomplish this, with or without ffmpeg ?

  • How to save HLS stream to local disk in source code by ffmpeg ?

    18 juillet 2021, par Zachary

The HSL stream is divided into multiple ts files, now I want to save these files and the m3u8 file to local disk in source code by calling ffmpeg APIs.

Does ffmpeg support this function ? If so how to implement the function ? Otherwise, can anyone give me some suggestions about how to achieve this goal ?

  • Encoding .png images with h264 to a file on disk

    21 février 2021, par xyfix

Can somebody help me to find out why I end up with a file on disk that is only 24 kb and not readable by vlc or so, while I send valid YUV images to the codec. I have added the .h and .cpp file. Up till "avcodec_receive_packet" everything seems to be OK. The function call "avcodec_send_frame" returns 0, so that must be OK but "avcodec_receive_packet" returns -11. If I flush the encoder (currently commented) then "avcodec_receive_packet" returns 0 and I can see encoded data if I store it on disk. Also the input image to the encoder is also correct (currently commented) and checked. I'm aiming for an intra-frame encoding, so I should get the encoded frame data back, but I don't get anything back even if I send 24 images to it.
