MediaSPIP 0.1 beta is the first version of MediaSPIP proclaimed as "usable".
The zip file provided here only contains the sources of MediaSPIP in its standalone version.
To get a working installation, you must manually install all-software dependencies on the server.

MediaSPIP platforms can be installed as a farm, with a single "core" hosted on a dedicated server and used by multiple websites.

  • ffmpeg ffserver - create a mosaic from two 720p webcam feeds

    28 juillet 2015, par der_felix

for a project i would like to take the video feeds (NO audio) of two logitech c920 webcams, put them side-by-side and stream them.
the c920 is able to compress the video feed with h264 itself(if enabled) and delivers 1080p with upto 30fps.
the stream is then loaded in an android app by a ffmpeg library and rendered to the screen.

    what i already know :
i know that i can take multiple streams or input files and create a mosaic stream via the filter_complex module.
http and h264 seem to be good for streaming, but other configurations are also welcom if they are faster/better.

    the question :
but how can i start the cameras with v4l2, set the camera resoltution and camera internal encoding and use these streams to create the mosaic ?
the mosaic should be unscaled (=2560x720px).

and i very often get the error code 256 but didnt find a solution what it means.

the system : laptop with usb3, ubuntu 15.04x64 ffmpeg 2.7.1 and ffserver 2.5.7

    thanks for your help

  • When using ffmpeg to create mp4 video file from batch of images the whole process is very slow how can i make it faster ?

29 juin 2015, par Brubaker Haim

The whole process is slow and also in the end the video file when playing it the frames moving very slow.

    ffmpeg -framerate 1/5 -i screenshot%06d.jpg -c:v libx264 -r 30 -p
    ix_fmt yuv420p out2.mp4

Is that mean 1 frames each 5 seconds ?
So if i will make 5/1 it will be 5 frames in a second ?
What should be the best result ?

And the second problem is that for testing i have 70 images but in the original i have over 1000 images is there any way to make all this process faster ?

  • Improve ffmpeg CPU usage by compramising quality

20 juin 2015, par Hardik Juneja

I am using FFMpeg for screen capturing.
I am looking for a screen capturing tool that will run on 1000 of VMs (windows and mac). The VMs have limited CPU (1 core) and 2GB ram and No GPU.

    Currently I invoke ffmpeg with

    ffmpeg  -y -framerate 8 -f dshow -f gdigrab -i "desktop"  -c:v libx264  -crf 0 -preset ultrafast -threads 0 temp.mkv

I am using gdigrab to capture screen ? Is there any better options that might reduce cpu usage ? or changing the encoder or format ?

I am aiming for 4-5% reduction in CPU usage.

    Thanks in advance
