  • HTML5 Video tag switcher for multiple resolutions

    20 avril 2016, par somecalmetim

    I have a Rails 4 app setup as a video upload/sharing site. I am using paperclip to upload videos and ffmpeg for processing 2 sizes of video into Mp4, ogg and webm.

    I want to show the smaller 240p video to mobile devices. I can do that now with media queries or Bootstraps adaptive tags but I would prefer a "resolution switcher" button similar to what I see on various other sites showing "240, 480, 720, 1080" Is this possible to do automatically within the HTML5 video tag similar to the "CC Closed Captioning" button that appears when you add subtitle files ?

    I was trying to avoid using a custom player.

    This was my quick bootstrap solution but would prefer a button/switcher.

    <div class="hidden-xs">
       <video style="width:100%" autobuffer="autobuffer" controls="controls" poster="&lt;%= @video.attachment.url(:preview) %>"><source label="720" type="video/mp4" default="default"><source label="ogg" type="video/ogg"><source label="webm" type="video/webm"><track label="English" kind="subtitles" srclang="en" src="/assets/subtitles.vtt" default="default"><p>Your Browser does not support the video tag.</p></track></source></source></source></video>
    </div>
    <div class="visible-xs">
       <video style="width:100%" autobuffer="autobuffer" controls="controls" poster="&lt;%= @video.attachment.url(:preview) %>"><source label="360" type="video/mp4" default="default"><source label="ogg mobile" type="video/ogg"><source label="webm mobile" type="video/webm"><track label="English" kind="subtitles" srclang="en" src="/assets/subtitles.vtt" default="default"><p>Your Browser does not support the video tag.</p></track></source></source></source></video>

  • Encoding of two full hd streams in Linux + GPU with Intel HD4000 / VA API / FFMPEG / OpenGL

    30 juin 2016, par qknight

    i want to encode/stream two full hd streams in realtime from my laptop to a remote location using linux/xorg on the host.

    VA API

    for this i’ve been playing with the VA API but the performance is pretty bad with 5.59 fps (see paste below).

    FFMPEG

    using ffmpeg with CPU encoding i get about 200 fps but then all cores of my Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3520M CPU @ 2.90GHz are busy and the fan turns on.

    future plans

    i want GPU support in encoding and later integrate this into a program which streams a virtual xorg ’screen’, see https://lastlog.de/wiki/index.php/Raspberry_PI_virtual_screen for more details on my plans.

    maybe h264 isn’t even what i want ? so if someone advices towards a different implementation, i’d welcome that.

    besides VA API there seems to be QuickSync but i didn’t experiment with that yet as it is not packaged on NixOS just yet.

    note : i need a library to have a smooth integration into the code.

    h264encode -w 1920 -h 1080 —profile MPSource frame is 1920x1080 and will code clip to 1920x1088 with crop

  • Video created via shell_exec() does not play, but video created via terminal does

    25 février 2021, par Mukul Kashyap

    I am creating a video from single audio and single image and it is fine when the audio length less than 10 seconds but when the audio length exceeds 10 seconds then video not playing. I am using FFmpeg to create video using shell_exec().&#xA;The video is fine when I directly runs the FFmpeg command on the terminal but the only issue comes with the shell_exec command.

    &#xA;

    This command I am using -

    &#xA;

    ffmpeg -loop 1 -f image2 -i $this->img_url -i  $this->audio_url -vf scale=1920*1080 -pix_fmt yuv420p -vcodec libx264 -shortest ".$video_local_dir.$video_name;&#xA;
