  • using ffmepg in python, shell and stdout

    27 août 2014, par Coderzelf

    I want to run the following line in python :

    ffmpeg -i test.avi -ss 0 -r 25 -vframes 100 ./out/image-%3d.jpg 2>&1 | grep output

    which should, if I directly run it in shell, output :

    >>Output #0, image2, to './out/image-%3d.jpg':

    However, when I do this in python :

    command = 'ffmpeg -i '+video_name+' -ss '+str(T) + ' -r '+str(25) + ' -vframes '+str(N)+' '+out_dir+'/image-%3d.jpg 2>&1 | grep output'
         argx = shlex.split(command)
         print argx
         proc = subprocess.Popen(argx,stdout=subprocess.PIPE,shell = True)
         (out,err) = proc.communicate()

    it outputs this :

    ['ffmpeg', '-i', 'test.avi', '-ss', '0', '-r', '25', '-vframes', '100', './out/image-%3d.jpg', '2>&1', '|', 'grep', 'output']

  • Convert mp3 -> Video with static image ( ffmpeg/libav & BASH )

    19 août 2014, par Max

    Some years ago I used the following bash script to get a video out of mp3’s and one image (so the image in the video was freezed over the length of the mp3), which worked out fine.

    i=0;
    for file in *.mp3;
    do
    i=$((i+1));
    ffmpeg -loop 1 -shortest -y -i image.jpg -i $file -acodec copy -vcodec libx264 $file.flv;
    done

    Now I wanted to use this again for doing the same.

    Problem :

    It does not stop converting at the end of the mp3. Means the current mp3 file eg. has a length of 3 minutes and the script converts until forever or I stop it, so the length of the flv is much bigger than 3 minutes.

    (ffmpeg is installed, but with libav the same happens)

  • FFMPEG conversion error from MKV to MP4 using libfdk_aac codec

    23 août 2014, par Charlie Brown

    The purpose of doing this is because my "Smart" samsung TV doesn’t play MKV files.

    This thread mentions that there is no need for video conversion, just changing the container might suffice. After reading multiple threads on how to change the container of MKV to MP4, I downloaded and compiled the FFMPEG with libfdk_aac support from here. I tried converting a sample MKV file using this command :

    ffmpeg -i "C:\VideoTest\Sample1.mkv" -c:v copy -c:a libfdk_aac -b:a 384k "C:\VideoTest\Sample2.mp4"

    but getting the following errors (copied from command prompt) :

    [hevc @ 0000000000308ae0] Could not find ref with POC 113

    Just an FYI : I got this far by reading blogs and posts. I have 0 knowledge about video conversion.
