  • How to overlay a video on another video and also fade in a PNG

    3 février 2019, par Imonaboat

    I am looking to overlay a video on top of another video and then also add a fade in and fade out PNG.

    I have the current command which works perfectly in merging two video files one on top of the other.

    ffmpeg -y -i output.mp4 -i transparent.mp4 -filter_complex "[1:v][0:v]scale2ref[ua][b];[ua]setsar=1,format=yuva444p,colorchannelmixer=aa=.7[u];[b][u]overlay=eof_action=pass[v]" -map [v] awsome.mp4

    I need to now add a PNG on it as well that fades in at 1s and fades out at 9.5s.

    Appreciate any and all advice.

    9 août 2017, par user3354787

    I have found a link explaining how to do this, however I do not know how to do it with a streaming video. FFmpeg - Overlay one video onto another video ?

    I am running a robot that uses FFMPEg to send straming video to letsrobot.tv You can see my bot on the website called patton II. I wnated to overlay a video HUD on the stream. If you can help me with a step by step that would be great. Sorry for such an open ended question but I am new to this whole thing but i will correct it or answer anything you need in order for you to help me

       overlayCommand = '-vf dynoverlay=overlayfile=/home/pi/runmyrobot/images/hud.png:check_interval=500'
    videoCommandLine = '/usr/local/bin/ffmpeg -f v4l2 -framerate 25 -video_size 640x480 -i /dev/video%s %s -f mpegts -codec:v mpeg1video -s 640x480 -b:v %dk -bf 0 -muxdelay 0.001 %s http://%s:%s/hello/640/480/' % (deviceAnswer, rotationOption, args.kbps, overlayCommand, server, videoPort)
    audioCommandLine = '/usr/local/bin/ffmpeg -f alsa -ar 44100 -i hw:1 -ac 2 -f mpegts -codec:a mp2 -b:a 32k -muxdelay 0.001 http://%s:%s/hello/640/480/' % (server, audioPort)
  • How can I play a video from the CLI with no output of video or audio

    1er janvier 2023, par Gary

    I have 1000s of video files and I know some of them are corrupted. I want to be able to detect corrupted files with a bash script, I tried using FFmpeg with error logging :

    ffmpeg -v error -i "vid.avi" -f null - 2>"vid.log"

    The output doesn't seem to be very useful though, some files which report errors play without any problems. The only way to know for sure seems to be to watch the video to see if there is any corruption or if it crashes the media player.

    I would like to be able to automate the "watching" by playing the video from the command line and detecting the corruption or crashing there but I can't find a way to run it without outputting the video and audio.

    I have tried FFplay but I can only disable one of the outputs not both :

    ffplay -nodisp "vid.avi"
ffplay -vn "vid.avi"

    These disable the video :

    ffplay -an "vid.avi"

    This disables the audio but I can't combine them, when I do I get an error :

    Failed to open file 'vid.avi' or configure filtergraph

    I have tried using the vlc/cvlv suggestions I have found but none have worked, it still opens a graphical interface just with no controls.

    Is there any way to do this ?
