  • How can I allow my users to combine audio and video tracks for downloading a youtube video ? [closed]

1er décembre 2023, par Faizan Ahanger

I have a website which, along a bunch a text, has a embedded youtube videos to play. I want to allow my users to also a be able to download those videos. There are too many videos there to store on my own server and I know that there are already website like y2mate.com and savefrom.net which do this.

I used yt-dlp and using the --print-json parameter I can get the urls for downloading the files but the audio and video tracks are not combined for higher videos. Using ffmpeg seems to be the obvious solution but I don't understand where the videos should be combined. Should I download both needed tracks on my server and combine them before serving it to users ? This seems very inefficient as it take a lot of bandwidth for handling all download requests. There is also this library ffmpeg.wasm which according to them is "a pure WebAssembly / JavaScript port of FFmpeg enabling video & audio record, convert and stream right inside browsers !"

This should work but it will require the users to download a 30MB webapp before they can download any video. This is also not very efficient, especially if they are downloading a video which is only a few MBs in size.

Are these the only two options that I have or is there a better way to do this ?

  • Download m3u8 playlist and merge into one C#

    10 août 2014, par trinvh

    Solution 1 :

I tried this by using create a ffmpeg wrapper, read output from cmd with following command :

    -i \"{m3u8-url-for-download}\" -y -c copy -bsf:a aac_adtstoasc \"{destination-filename}\"

I can get duration, current state for downloading. Everything seems be ok. However sometimes it crashed and I can’t detect why. It isn’t ALWAYS, but SOMETIME.

    Solution 2 :

I download m3u8 playlist file and get contents within it. It contains an array *.ts file url that I can easily download by using HttpClient. But I don’t know how to combine these *.ts file into one mp4 file that keeps their format.

Are there other solutions for doing this ?

  • Youtube DL Unable to get local issuer certificate - CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED

24 novembre 2022, par Casper Kristiansson

I'm trying to use youtube DL with FFmpeg to download an m3u8 stream. Just recently I started receiving this error :

    ERROR: Unable to download webpage: <urlopen error="error" verify="verify" unable="unable" to="to" get="get" local="local" issuer="issuer" certificate="certificate">
(caused by URLError(SSLCertVerificationError(1,
'[SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed:
unable to get local issuer certificate (_ssl.c:992)')))
</urlopen>

I know Youtube DL supports an option for nocheckcertificate but by enabling this after a couple of minutes the target machine will refuse the connection. When trying to use the same m3u8 stream on another computer, I could download the stream without any issues.

I know that someone from Youtubedl CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED suggested fixing "your system's CA certificate list". What is the process of doing this ?

I tried upgrading/reinstalling python and reinstalling the latest Windows update

I also want to mention that there hasn't been any issue with downloading for the past year but recently stumbled upon this when switching proxy providers. But because the same setup works on another PC without any issue it's probably not the reason.

The system the program is running on is Windows

Edit : Another note is that downloading other public m3u8 streams works perfectly fine, so the problem is probably with the system CA SSL.
