  • FFmpeg RTSP stream to remote MediaMTX server disconnects after a few seconds [closed]

    I'm new to RTSP and MediaMTX, and I'm trying to live stream my screen using FFmpeg and MediaMTX for a specific use case.

    


    Everything works perfectly when both FFmpeg and MediaMTX run on the same machine.
However, when I move MediaMTX to a remote server, the stream becomes unstable — I can't maintain a connection or view the stream reliably.

    


    Here is the FFmpeg command I'm using from the client machine :

    


    ffmpeg -f gdigrab -framerate 10 -offset_x 0 -offset_y 0 -video_size 1920x1080 -i desktop -f lavfi -i anullsrc -vcodec libx264 -tune zerolatency -g 30 -sc_threshold 0 -preset ultrafast -tune zerolatency -f rtsp rtsp:///live/stream


    


    And here’s the relevant MediaMTX log output on the remote server :

    My questions :

    


      

    1. What could be causing the RTSP stream to disconnect when streaming to a remote MediaMTX server ?

      2. 


    2. Are there any recommended network settings or MediaMTX configuration tweaks to ensure a stable stream over the internet ?

      3.

  • FFmpeg - Filter_complex & Live transcoding latency for realtime live streaming

    How to reduce latency for "live realtime streaming" when FFmpeg is live-transcoding a "live realtime input source" and using a -filter_complex ?

    


      

    • A more powerfull CPU ? Even when the CPU is not fully loaded ?

      • 


    • More CPU cores ?

      • 


    • A less CPU intensive encoding ? Like mpeg1video ?

      • 


    


    A small benchmark comparative test for a given -filter_complex would be interesting ! But how do you accurately measure latency between two tests ?

    


  • Convert video.ts file into video.mp4 using ffmpeg

    So I tried to convert a file named video.ts into video.mp4 in Python and am getting the error :

    


    FileNotFoundError: [WinError 2] The system cannot find the file specified

    


    Assuming video.ts is already loaded into the program and subprocess already imported.

    


    This is due to the line :

    


    >>> subprocess.run(['ffmpeg', '-i', 'video.ts', 'video.mp4']) but I don't know what's the problem.

    


    I've opened the video.ts file and it seem to be working fine. Python version (3.8.2)
