  • ffmpeg how to vertically rotate and concat/stack two videos in one command ?

    3 juin 2022, par baziorek

    I have two recordings inside.MOV and outside.MOV recorded with two cameras (the same settings and the same model).

    I want to do something like that :

    ffmpeg -i inside.MOV -vf "transpose=2,transpose=2" inside_rotated180degree.MOV # rotate 180 degree
ffmpeg -i outside.MOV -i inside_rotated180degree.MOV \
  -filter_complex "[0:v]scale=640:-1[v0];[v0][1:v]vstack=inputs=2" inside_and_outside.MOV # concat them

    but in single command.

    I've managed to rotate upper video, but I need to rotate lower :

    ffmpeg -i outside.MOV -i inside_rotated180degree.MOV \
  -filter_complex "[0:v]scale=1920:-1,rotate=PI[v0];[v0][1:v]vstack=inputs=2" inside_and_outside.MOV

    I tried to modify the command various ways to add rotate=PI, but always there is a error in command/screen/input/... does anybody knows how to rotate video lower instead of upper ?

  • ffmpeg does not copy custom metadata

    20 juin 2015, par e110c0

    I’m trying to fix some videos made with an iDevice. The videos have a rotation in the metadata which is only understood by Apple and its software but noone else. Fixing this is quite simple, but I also would like to keep the other metadata in the files like the geolocation.

    I tried a couple of versions, all with the same result, e.g. :

    ffmpeg -i input.mov -vf vflip,hflip -map_metadata 0 -metadata:s:v:0 rotate=0  -acodec copy output.mp4

    This should work, it already gives the correct preview of metadata :

    I also tried to add the one tag I’m interested in by hand with

    -metadata:g location=+48.2683+007.7205+172.710/

    with no change in the result.

    Output as .mov doesn’t change anything, neither.

    Is there any trick to add non-standard metadata ? How do I get the location back in there ?

    Thanks in advance to anyone who can give some insight on this.

  • handling subprocess file output

    14 janvier 2019, par Sandip Kumar

    I am working on a project in which at some point user uploads a video and in backend i have to generate thumbnail for that video. I preferred ffmpeg for this purpose and the system is in django environment.
    This is my view function

    def upload(request):
       if request.method == 'POST':
           form = DocumentForm(request.POST, request.FILES)
           if form.is_valid():
               newdoc = Document(docfile=request.FILES['docfile'])
               filename = str(request.FILES['docfile'].name)
               newdoc.save()
               op = subprocess.call(['ffmpeg', '-i',"media/private/"+up, '-ss', '00:00:03.000', '-vframes', '1', 'abc.jpg']) // Generates thumbnail
               newdoc.thumbnail = op
               newdoc.save()
               return HttpResponseRedirect(reverse('list'))
       else:
           form = DocumentForm()

    The Document has the thumbnail field. I know that subprocess.call() returns returncode not any object so using op variable is useless. So my query is how do i save generated thumbnail in model.
