    MediaSPIP is based on a system of themes and templates. Templates define the placement of information on the page, and can be adapted to a wide range of uses. Themes define the overall graphic appearance of the site.
    Anyone can submit a new graphic theme or template and make it available to the MediaSPIP community.

  • FFMPEG recording from live m3u8 to a .ts file

    I am trying to record from a live HLS to save a file.

    However sometimes the HLS stutters or cuts for a short amount of time probably even less than seconds and interrupts my recording.

    The command and FFMPEG build :

  • ffmpeg takes a while to start

    I have this command in python script, in a loop :

    


    ffmpeg -i somefile.mp4 -ss 00:03:12 -t 00:00:35 piece.mp4 -loglevel error -stats


    


    It cuts out pieces of input file (-i). Input filename, as well as start time (-ss) and length of the piece I cut out (-t) varies, so it reads number of mp4 files and cuts out number of pieces from each one. During execution of the script it might be called around 100 times. My problem is that each time before it starts, there is a delay of few seconds and it adds up to significant time. How can I get it to start immediately ?

  • confused about lhls in ffmpeg

    I am more than a little confused about trying to use the experimental lhls option in ffmpeg.

    


    I have built ffmpeg from source (which takes a while), and currently have version 4.1.6 running.

    


    Reading other threads here, and the ffmpeg docs, it appears that the lhls option is available only in the Dash muxer.

    


    I gravitated to HLS because of its support in Apple devices, and I thought that lhls was related (and Apple was drafting the spec).

    


    Then there is the comment in the ffmpeg docs that states that the hls.js folks are working on supporting lhls in their library, which I also use to support browsers like Chrome.

    


    Should I be using dash instead of hls for my prototype ? I want to try and get very low latency for a construction inspection app I am considering building. Right now, the latency I am seeing is 10-15 seconds.

    


    Any insights would be appreciated. TIA
