  • FFMPEG command line not using GPU when compressing MP4 file

    13 avril 2022, par StealthRT

Hey all I have been working on a good command line string to use for my movies that I would like to trim the size down to at least half the current size.

My handbrake information regaurding my GPU and computer system is this :

    HandBrake 1.5.1 (2022011000)
OS: Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.19043.0
CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU           X5650  @ 2.67GHz (12 Cores, 24 Threads)
Ram: 40940 MB,
GPU Information:
Microsoft Remote Display Adapter - 10.0.19041.662
  NVIDIA Tesla K10 - 30.0.14.7141
  NVIDIA Tesla K10 - 30.0.14.7141
Microsoft Basic Display Adapter - 10.0.19041.868

When I originally made a command line, I was just using it to copy the file over to where it needed to go with the following :

    ffmpeg -y -hide_banner -threads 8 -hwaccel cuda -hwaccel_device 1
-hwaccel_output_format cuda -v verbose -i "c :\testingvids\AEON FLUX 2005.mp4" -c:v h264_cuvid -gpu:v 1 -preset slow -c copy "c :\testingvids\AEON FLUX 2005 nvidia.mp4"

    This produced a 828x processing speed :

    enter image description here

But for taking that same file and compressing it I seem to only get a 8x speed ?

    enter image description here

So that is quite a difference there. Am I using the correct syntax for it to only use my GPU to convert/compress the mp4 with the h264 nvenc ?

  • why FFMPEG commands are not working in android Pie (version 9) and working properly in lesser verison ?

1er juin 2019, par Muhammad Umer Asif

I’m working on an application where i’m uploading images and video to server using REST APIs, i’m compressing these files before uploading and for this purpose i’m using FFMPEG library. The issue is FFMPEG commands are working properly in android version 8 and lesser versions but not working properly in android version 9.
It always trigger the onFailure(String message) in version 9. i’m always getting this error when i run fFmpeg.execute(cmd, new ExecuteBinaryResponseHandler()

    Conversion failed!

I searched a lot from stack overflow and from github but didn’t get the proper solution.

For image compression i use this command.

    String[] complexCommand = {"-i", path, "-vf", "scale=w=800:h=600:force_original_aspect_ratio=decrease", filePath,};

For Video compression i use this command.

    String[] complexCommand = {"-ss", "" + startMs / 1000, "-y", "-i", path, "-t", "" + (endMs - startMs) / 1000, "-vcodec", "libx264", "-preset", "ultrafast", "-s", "640x360", filePath};

I expect to trigger onSuccess(String message) method in fFmpeg.execute(cmd, new ExecuteBinaryResponseHandler() and get the proper generated output.

  • ffmpeg - convert movie AND show original input (as resized picture-in-picture, top-left corner) in the final output file

    2 octobre 2019, par raven

this is my first post on this forum, so please be gentle in case I accidentally do trip over any forum rules that I would not know of yet :).

I would like to apply some color-grading to underwater GoPro footage. To quicker gauge the effect of my color settings (trial-and-error, as of yet), would like to see the original input video stream as a PIP (e.g., scaled down 50%), in the top-left corner of the converted output movie.

I have one input movie that is going to be color graded. The PIP should use the original as an input, just a scaled-down version of it.

I would like to use ffmpeg’s -filter_complex option to do the PIP, but all examples I can find on "-filter_complex" would use two already existing movies. Instead, I would like to make the color-corrected stream an on-the-fly input to "-filter_complex", which then renders the PIP.

Is that doable, all in one go ?

Both the individual snippets below work fine, I now would like to combine these and skip the creation of an intermediate color-graded video. Your help combining these two steps into one single process is greatly appreciated !

    Thanks in advance,
    raven.
