  • How to add two video filters in one command line which has transcoding done by two GPUs?

3 August 2022, by Max Dax

    I have two video filters:

    -vf "hwdownload, drawtext=fontfile=/usr/share/fonts/TTF/Verdana.ttf:text='Hello World',
format=nv12, hwupload"

    and

    -vf "select='gt(scene,0.04)'" -vsync 0 'snapshot.png'

How can I add these two video filters to the below command line which does transcoding from a webcam livestream of MJPG to HEVC using two GPUs?:

    ffmpeg
-init_hw_device cuda=decdev:/dev/dri/renderD129
-init_hw_device vaapi=encdev:/dev/dri/renderD128
-hwaccel cuda
-hwaccel_device decdev
-hwaccel_output_format cuda
-c:v mjpeg_cuvid
-f v4l2 -input_format mjpeg -framerate 30 -video_size 1920x1080
-i /dev/video0
-filter_hw_device encdev
-c:v hevc_vaapi webcam.mp4"

Basically what I am trying to do is using FFMPEG to transcode and record a live webcam stream and also at the same time take snapshots when motion is detected.

    Thanks

  • Fast Video Streaming and Upload Android

    6 April 2016, by vminind

Fast Streaming & Uploading Videos On Mobile Apps with AWS S3

Im developing a app witch has Android, iOS Clients were users can upload videos and photos and view as news feed. I store my video file on Amazone s3. Video length is limited to 30sec.

When user is uploading 30 sec video from their gallery there are some high quality videos witch is even exceed 100MB so those video files take ages to upload. So i tried to convert them before upload using ffmpeg-android library but it also take almost same amount of time to convert the file so it seems this solution also point less. (convert in the scene reducing the video resolution and frame rate)

Im using ExoPlayer to play videos

Note : Videos uploading from iOS are not that huge files.

I want videos to upload fast and stream fast. Its big help if anyone can share their thoughts on this.

  • FFmpeg meaningful video thumbnails

    18 April 2015, by Maverick

I know this question has been discussed already here. However, it did not solve the problem completely. I trying to retrieve meaning thumbnails from video and while executing the following command.

    ffmpeg -ss 3 -i input.avi -vf "select=gt(scene\,0.4)" -frames:v 5 -vsync vfr -vf "fps=fps=1/600" out%02d.jpg

As a result, I am only able to get 1 image out of this video. I am not sure, what is going wrong over here.

Also, it would be great, if someone kindly give a quick explanation of this command parameters and filters. The command originally comes from here

    FFMPEG console output:
