  • hvec warning : [hevc @ 0x55a596a20900] Could not find ref with POC 48

    18 mai 2022, par thebluest

I have this software where I take an input stream using RTSP to apply some computer vision algorithms on each frame, and then streaming them in a tkinter app, but I keep getting this error :

[hevc @ 0x55a596a20900] Could not find ref with POC 48
[hevc @ 0x55a596a20900] Could not find ref with POC 48
[hevc @ 0x55a596a20900] Could not find ref with POC 48
[hevc @ 0x55a596a20900] Could not find ref with POC 48
[hevc @ 0x55a596a20900] Could not find ref with POC 48

Sometimes, after getting this error, the stream dies and sometimes it continues. Why is this error showing and how can I debug it/catch it ?
I'm extracting the stream from an IP camera using opencv-pyhton.
Thanks.

  • Does converting .mp4 to .mkv change data fidelity ?

31 décembre 2020, par Will Pike

I am wondering when I convert a .mp4 to .mkv using the following command if the quality changes.

    ffmpeg -i in.mp4 out.mkv

The input file, in.mp4 has a file size of 297 megabytes, while the out.mkv file has a size of 249 megabytes, 15% lower. Upon manual inspection, the resolution, video, and audio streams are the same before/after (as I would have expected given my (limited) knowledge of ffmpeg).

Is the 15% size decrease by simply converting to mkv actually not affect the quality of the video ? If so this seems like a very reasonable way of freeing up some space on my computer.

  • Is there a way to have a live website as an video overlay on RTSP stream using ffmpeg ? [closed]

    29 janvier 2021, par user161284

I'd need to have a live website on one corner of my RTSP video stream, which is then streamed to Youtube. I know I can do this with OBS, but the point is that nobody actually operates the computer, so I though I'd use ffmpeg.

I know that ffmpeg can add images as an overlay, but in my case the need would be to use a live website as the overlay. Whether this would be accomplished with "plain" ffmpeg or some other piece of (already existing) software in-between does not matter.

After reading the ffmpeg documentation and some earlier posts a few years ago, it unfortunately seems that there's no way to use html as an overlay with plain ffmpeg.

Any suggestions to overcome this challenge ?
