  • Check an address to see if there is any video stream on it or not

    12 janvier 2014, par Blue Sky

    I want to read a video stream from a UDP address using libavcodec functions. To do so, I use the following code :

    char *url = "udp://127.0.0.1:1000";
    AVFormatContext *oc = NULL;
    avformat_open_input(&oc, url, NULL , NULL);

    If we run this code, then function "avformat_open_input" starts listening on the given UDP address, and it looks like the program is halted if there is no video stream at the given UDP address.

    Now, I want to write a code to first check the given UDP address quickly to see whether there is any data on it or not, if there is no data then the program should neglect running "avformat_open_input", otherwise it should run this function so that I can avoid the halting situation.

    Any idea how I can do this ? Thanks !

  • Video becomes choppy when the order in the hstack filter is changed

    25 octobre 2018, par Mayank

    I have a FFmpeg command wherein I am merging 2 videos side by side using hstack filter. When I place first video on the right hand side and second video on the left hand side, the final merged video is perfect in quality and plays smoothly.

    However, when I swap the order in hstack filter, the final video is very choppy.

    Can someone please let me know the issue in this command ? Many thanks in advance.

    Also, the file size of the non working file is almost double than that of working file. Can you explain why ?

    Here is the working command :

    ffmpeg -i 1_a.opus -i 2_a.opus -itsoffset 0.024 -i 1_v.mp4 -itsoffset 0.113 -i 2_v.mp4 -filter_complex "[1:a]adelay=15646|15646[a1]; [0:a][a1]amix; [3:v]trim=0:15.646,geq=0:128:128[silence]; [3:v]fifo[3v]; [silence][3v]concat[3_v_silence]; [3_v_silence][2:v]hstack" -preset ultrafast -y n_m_bars_try2.mp4

  • ffmpeg : create a video from images and sounds

    27 septembre 2018, par Yuri Gusak

    You need to create a video from a set of pictures and sounds using ffmpeg.
    Set of pictures : frame_% d.jpg
    Sounds :
    sound1.mp3 (from 0 ms)
    sound2.mp3 (from 1000 ms)
    sound3.mp3 (from 2000 ms)

    I can create a video with one sound :

    -i frame_% d.jpg -i sound1.mp3 -r 30 -s 1280x720 -preset ultrafast -crf 25 -shortest movie.mp4

    and it works.

    But I need to add some sounds at different times. How can I do that ? May be -filter_complex will help ?
