  • Use ffmpeg to stream live content to azure media services

    9 juin 2016, par Dadicool

    I’ve been trying to stream content to azure media services using ffmpeg as it’s one of the options described here : http://azure.microsoft.com/blog/2014/09/18/azure-media-services-rtmp-support-and-live-encoders/

    My command is :

    ffmpeg -v verbose -i 300.mp4 -strict -2 -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100 -r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -b:v 400000 -c:v libx264 -preset medium -bufsize 400k -maxrate 400k -f flv rtmp://nessma-****.channel.mediaservices.windows.net:1935/live/584c99f5c47f424d9e83ac95364331e7

    I have made sure that the streaming endpoint has one active streaming unit, I also made sure that the channel is actually Ready and I even get it to start streaming (which makes a PublishURL available).

    When I execute the ffmpeg command to start streaming, I keep getting the following error :

    The Azure blog post clearly states that this should be possible but I can’t find a working example anywhere.

  • How to record live video stream and seek by time stamp with ffmpeg ?

    14 août 2014, par Kart R.

    I’m trying to set up streaming server with archive playback functionality in it.

    Is it possible to record live streams with current timestamps (as metadata) and then seek stream by passing time stamp as start position ?

    According to ffserver docs (https://www.ffmpeg.org/ffserver.html) it should be easy configurable but there in no enough information in given docs. ("ffserver is a streaming server for both audio and video. It supports several live feeds, streaming from files and time shifting on live feeds. You can seek to positions in the past on each live feed, provided you specify a big enough feed storage.")

    The next question would be as fallows : is there any web server module that provides similar functionality as ffserver ? I know nginx-rtmp module but it lacks with many feature that ffserver provides.

    How can I achieve that request below gives stream starting at given time stamp :

    http://localhost:8080/test.mpeg?date=2014-07-26T23:05:00

    or

    http://localhost:8080/test.mpeg?ts=1408039332

    Any input would be appreciated since I have been stuck on this on for a while now.

  • Streaming live video with avconv/ffmped on nginx rtmp server player error

    6 juin 2014, par user3715403

    Good morning,
    My current project involves playing live video (testing using a usb webcam for now). I compiled and installed nginx server with the rtmp module (obtained from https://github.com/arut/nginx-rtmp-module). The nginx configuration file is as :

    worker_processes  1;

    error_log  logs/error.log debug;

    events {
       worker_connections  1024;
    }

    rtmp {
       server {
           listen 1935;

           application myapp {
               live on;

               #record keyframes;
               #record_path /tmp;
               #record_max_size 128K;
               #record_interval 30s;
               #record_suffix .this.is.flv;

               #on_publish http://localhost:8080/publish;
               #on_play http://localhost:8080/play;
               #on_record_done http://localhost:8080/record_done;
           }
       }
    }

    http {
       server {
           listen      8080;

           location /stat {
               rtmp_stat all;
               rtmp_stat_stylesheet stat.xsl;
           }

           location /stat.xsl {
               root /path/to/nginx-rtmp-module/;
           }

           location /control {
               rtmp_control all;
           }

           #location /play {
           #    return 202;

           location / {
               root /path/to/nginx-rtmp-module/test/www;
           }
       }
    }

    The command line to start streaming is as :

    avconv -s vga -f video4linux2 -i /dev/video0 -vcodec libx264 -an -f flv -b 800k -r 30 rtmp://localhost/myapp/live

    While streaming, the following stats are displayed :

    Before embedding the stream onto a web page using, say videojs, I am using avplay which returns the error : rtmp ://localhost/myapp/live : Input/output error while VLC returns the error
    Your input can’t be opened :

    Any suggestions about what would cause the errors displayed by VLC/avplay ?

    Thanks
