Open avi file with OpenCV : ffmpeg ?
28 juin 2012, par CTZStefThis question is related to a previous question I asked here.
I read on the Willow Garage website dedicated to OpenCV that we do not have to take care of ffmpeg while installing OpenCV since version 1.2.x. Here it is.
However, some questions asked here on Stackoverflow suggest the contrary.
So, what should I do ? Do I have to recompile OpenCV and do some special operation related to ffmpeg to get it to, finally, open avi file on my Linux system ?

FFmpeg H264 lossless y channel
23 février 2016, par metliraI want to encode a video using H264 encoding of FFmpeg. My problem is to keep the information in y channel (intensity) as much as possible. I don’t care much about the color information in the video.
I tried lossless encoding, but the file size became too large. For example, the size of a 10 secs video became 30,3 MByte ( 24 Kbps).
I didn’t see any option for H264 in FFMpeg to encode intensity information of a video in a lossless way. Do you know any option setting to preserve intensity information in a lossless way while keeping the file size small ?

understand what is the GOP size (i-frame/p-frame ratio) in a video
29 avril 2012, par nkinti am doing stuffs with a video in action script and i need to seek a video to acertain frame. according to the reference, using NetStream.seek i can seek only to the nearest k-frame :
Seeks the keyframe (also called an I-frame in the video industry) closest to the specified location. The keyframe is placed at an offset, in seconds, from the beginning of the stream.
Video streams are usually encoded with two types of frames, keyframes (or I-frames) and P-frames. A keyframe contains an entire image, while a P-frame is an interim frame that provides additional video information between keyframes. A video stream typically has a keyframe every 10-50 frames.and so i need to understand how many p-frame and i-frame there are in a video encoded in .f4v format.
i am on mac and on ubuntu, i don't care about the tool to use (mayebe some ffmpeg/mencoder call should be perfect), any advice ?
