• How do I suppress `ffmpeg`'s "Filter ... has an unconnected output" error ?

  If I write something like ffmpeg -i INPUT.mp4 -filter_complex '[0:v]trim=end=1[test],[0:v]trim=end=2[out]' -map '[out]' OUT.mp4, I get Filter trim has an unconnected output. This is annoying when debugging my complex filter, because I want to build it up in pieces and not have to worry about useless filters. How do I suppress this error message while developing ?

  Hey guys I am new to Ffmpeg, I want to resize a watermark logo according to the video size and add transparency to it. The code I have is not working as expected.

  ffmpeg -i $initialFilePath -i $assetLogoFilePath -y -filter_complex '[1][0]scale2ref=w=oh*mdar:h=ih*0.03[logo][video];[1]format=rgba,colorchannelmixer=aa=0.5[logo];[video][logo]overlay=W-w-5:H-h-5' -c:a copy $temporaryDirectoryPath/$finalVideoPath"


  


  I am getting this error Filter scale2ref has an unconnected output.

• ffmpeg ... "Impossible to convert between the formats supported by the filter"

  Using the latest ffmpeg master built as at 2017.11.26, I’m having trouble deciphering what the error messages means and, more importantly, what to do about them.

  Changing from -vf to -filter_complex did nothing (I had to try).
  The main error message seems to be

  Impossible to convert between the formats supported by the filter

  I have tried to insert "format=" and "scale" before/between/after yadif and unsharp_opencl but to no avail.

  I wonder, could it be something to do with needing hwupload/hwdownload/hwmap or is that a red herring ?

  What am I doing wrong ?
