  • Using OpenCV and ffmpeg to write MP4 files

    I want to write MP4 video files using openCV. However, judging by this issue, it looks like that is not possible. Currently, I am writing the file as an avi and then a system call to ffmpeg for conversion to MP4. This is obviously slow.
    Is there some way I can speed this up ?

    One idea I had was to inject the frame I generate using openCV into ffmpeg directly. But to do that I will have to write them to file from openCV and read that file from ffmpeg, which is time consuming. Is there some way I can achieve this ?

    In Java, I’m using FFmpeg to convert a WAV file to AAC with the function :

    -i input.wav -ac 1 -ab 64000 -ar 22050 output.aac

    When I open these two files in Audacity, I can clearly see that the AAC file is 0.05 seconds longer, with 0.05 seconds of silence added to the beginning.

    This is an issue when I try to mux this AAC file with a video file - the audio doesn’t sync up.

    Is there some sort of parameter to prevent this behavior or another way to get around this issue ?
