    MediaSPIP 0.1 beta is the first version of MediaSPIP proclaimed as "usable".
    The zip file provided here only contains the sources of MediaSPIP in its standalone version.
    To get a working installation, you must manually install all-software dependencies on the server.

  • Multilang : améliorer l’interface pour les blocs multilingues

    Multilang est un plugin supplémentaire qui n’est pas activé par défaut lors de l’initialisation de MediaSPIP.
    Après son activation, une préconfiguration est mise en place automatiquement par MediaSPIP init permettant à la nouvelle fonctionnalité d’être automatiquement opérationnelle. Il n’est donc pas obligatoire de passer par une étape de configuration pour cela.

    MediaSPIP uses HTML5 video and audio tags to play multimedia files, taking advantage of the latest W3C innovations supported by modern browsers.
    The MediaSPIP player used has been created specifically for MediaSPIP and can be easily adapted to fit in with a specific theme.
    For older browsers the Flowplayer flash fallback is used.

  • A Digital Media Primer for Geeks

    Our friend Monty Montgomery (creator of the Vorbis audio codec used in WebM) has started a video series about digital media. The first episode is an excellent overview of "the technical foundations of modern digital media."

    You can stream WebM versions of the video in your favorite WebM-enabled browser or download it to your desktop and watch it one of many WebM-enabled media players. Supported browsers and players are listed on our site.

  • WebM Video Codec in Skype 5.0 Group Video

    Our friends at Skype recently released Skype 5.0 for Windows and Mac, which features a beta group video feature using VP8, the video codec in WebM. In the first half of 2010, approximately 40% of Skype-to-Skype calls were video calls and we’re excited that in the future many of those calls will be made using VP8.

    To check out the new group video feature, simply download the Skype Software.

    Note : For group video to work, everyone on the call needs the new Skype for Windows or Mac, a webcam and a broadband connection.

    C’est un jour formidable pour la communauté de Piwik : Piwik vient juste de dépasser la barre importante des 100 000 téléchargements !!

    Ceci montre à quel point une alternative open source à Google, à Yahoo et à d’autres est bien reçue par la communauté. Merci à tous pour votre aide, vos messages, vos corrections, vos rapports de bugs, vos réactions, vos articles sur les blogs, c’était un parcours très excitant !

    L’évolution des téléchargements

    Regardez le graphique çi-dessous qui montre les évolutions des téléchargements de Piwik par mois depuis la première version publique en Mars 2008 :

    Voulez vous voir ce graphe grimpé pendant les prochains mois ? Vous pouvez le faire ! Nous sommes en train de travailler dur pour finir la version 1.0 de Piwik (allez voir la « roadmap » de Piwik 1.0) et VOUS pouvez aider. Nous avons fait une liste de choses que vous pouvez faire pour aider, quelque soit vos capacités techniques ou votre créativité. Allez voir la liste des 18 voies dans lesquelles vous pouvez vous engager pour contribuer à Piwik.
