  • Overlaying a transparent webm on an MP4 freezes at the start sometimes

    23 janvier 2021, par joshlat94

    I'm currently using the command
 ffmpeg -i mainvideo.mp4 -vcodec libvpx -i myoverlay.webm -filter_complex "overlay = 5:5" done.mp4
To overlay a transparent webm on top of my main mp4. But for some reason the output video is frozen for the first 1 second but the audio is completely fine.

I've tried this command with other videos and it works sometimes but most of the time the first few frames seem frozen

    Edit.
I have two main mp4 files, broken_source.mp4 and working_source.mp4. Putting the overlay on broken_source results in the output having the first 1 second of video frozen (audio completely fine) but putting the same overlay on working_source.mp4 is perfect and has no issues

Logs for putting the overlay on working_source :

    ffmpeg -i working_source.mp4 -vcodec libvpx -i chat.webm -filter_complex "overlay = 0:0" working_complete.mp4

I am trying to make a short video in FFMPEG, where a word stays on screen for the duration of the video (0.5s). My FFMPEG code looks like this :

    ffmpeg -f lavfi -i color=c=white:s=320x240:d=0.5 -vf "drawtext=fontfile= ‘c\:\Windows\fonts\calibri.ttf':fontsize=18:  fontcolor=black:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=(h-text_h)/2:text='word'" output.mp4

However, I keep getting the following error (see below for full output) :

Fontconfig error: Cannot load default config file
    [Parsed_drawtext_0 @ 000001c2918cef00] Using "C:/Windows/fonts/mingliub.ttc"

I figured it had something to do with the path to the font file. I also tried copying the font file to my FFMPEG map and map the font path to the FFMPEG directory :

    ffmpeg -f lavfi -i color=c=white:s=320x240:d=0.5 -vf
    "drawtext=fontfile=‘C:\FFMPEG\bin\calibri.ttf':fontsize=18:
    fontcolor=black:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=(h-text_h)/2:text='word'" output.mp4'

This doesn’t work either. I do get an output video.mp4 video, but the font is wrong. Here is the full output I get. It is the same for both code examples above :

    c:\FFMPEG\bin>ffmpeg -f lavfi -i color=c=white:s=320x240:d=0.5 -vf "drawtext=fontfile= ‘c\\:\\\Windows\\\fonts\\\calibri.ttf':fontsize=18:  fontcolor=black:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=(h-text_h)/2:text='word'" output.mp4

SOLVED ! Apparently the problem was that the path to the font cannot contain a semicolon (i.e., "C :/". The code that worked is :

    ffmpeg -f lavfi -i color=c=white:s=320x240:d=0.5 -vf “drawtext=fontfile= /Windows/fonts/calibri.ttf:fontsize=18: fontcolor=black:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=(h-text_h)/2:text=word” output.mp4

  • Reverse and areverse crash the computer

    14 août 2019, par Alex

I am using this command :

    ffmpeg -y -ss 00:03:52.612 -i "H:\DCIM\100GOPRO\GOPR3258.MP4" -r 60 -t 00:00:12.140 -vf reverse -af afade=t=in:ss=0:d=1,afade=t=out:st='00\:00\:11.140':d=1,areverse 6.mp4

It increases the memory consumption of the computer to a point of collapse.

    Putting it like

    ffmpeg -y -ss 00:03:52.612 -i "H:\DCIM\100GOPRO\GOPR3258.MP4" -r 60 -t 00:00:12.140 -af afade=t=in:ss=0:d=1,afade=t=out:st='00\:00\:11.140':d=1 6.mp4

    Works without a problem.

Therefore, the issue is in the -vf reverse and -af reverse.

    The output is

    What I find interesting is

Only '-vf reverse' read, ignoring remaining -vf options: Use ',' to separate filters

As there is only -vf reverse

Only '-af afade=t=in:ss=0:d=1,afade=t=out:st='00\:00\:11.140':d=1,areverse' read, ignoring remaining -af options: Use ',' to separate filters

    Here the same.

    I tried

    ffmpeg -y -ss 00:03:52.612 -i "H:\DCIM\100GOPRO\GOPR3258.MP4" -r 60 -t 00:00:12.140 -vf "reverse" -af "afade=t=in:ss=0:d=1,afade=t=out:st='00\:00\:11.140':d=1,areverse" 6.mp4

    to no avail

What is causing this issue ?
