• Samsung S3 : 'Cannot play Video' on stock Video player

  I am unable to play a mp4 video(H.264 Baseline, AAC) on Samsung S3, Android Version : 4.1.1, stock video player but plays on VLC. The same video plays on Galaxy Beam, Android Version : 2.3.6, stock Video Player. I want to figure out why it does not play on S3. I ran ffprobe and mediainfo on the fie :

  I suspect the video player is more stricter on some codec header values. The level is set to 3.0 and this should be correct. Any help in figuring this out is appreciated !

• Android Samsung Galaxy S2 / S3 device bitmap rendering to ImageView issue

  I am stuck in a very strange Bitmap rendering issue with Samsung Android devices. Let me discuss in brief what I have done.

  I am taking frame from a video and rendering it in a ImageView using ffmpeg. Following code gives me a bitmap object in return from JNI callback.

  Next, I’m just setting the Bitmap to ImageView. Now the issue is the Bitmap I get is rendering very well in maximum devices except Samsung S2/S3.

  Issue With :-

  For Case B, A part of the video is rendering at the right side if you notice.

  I have tried saving the Bitmap I get from JNI as jpg in SD card and read that again to set the ImageView and it works. I Don’t understand what is going wrong with the raw Bitmap that I get from JNI callback, is it with Samsung S2 Hardware ? Please someone help me on this.

  I have Full HD video taken by Samsung Galaxy S4 camera.
  video stream info as follows :

  in short it is 1920x1080, 16KK bitrate, rotation : 90.
  I'm converting it using ffmpeg by the following command :

  The output video being played without any problem, on many different devices and OSes including different iOs and androids, but Samsung S5300 doesn't play it. From the device log I can see the following exception :

  E/AwesomePlayer( 1349): This resolution [324X576] Not Supported

  But, when I change the width and height to 576x324 the video can be played on S5300, but in wrong rotation.
  What should I add in ffmpeg parameters to make it play in correct orientation ?
