  • Load processed video instead of original video - Rails, Dragonfly

    1er février 2016, par Michael B

    In my Rails 4-Project, I am using Dragonfly to upload images and videos.
    For image-processing I use imagemagick, for videoprocessing I use ffmpeg.

    Videos are uploaded and stored in the folder uploads/videos. After processing, they are stored in public/ffmpeg_videos/

    My question is : How can I use the processed-video instead of the uploaded video ?

    e.g. I use this code in the view, to display a video :

    <video src="&lt;%=@video.video.url%>"></video>

    This successfully loads the original video from the upload-path. But what do I have to change, to load the video from the ffmpeg-path ?

    initializers/dragonfly.rb

    require 'dragonfly'

    # Configure
    Dragonfly.app(:images).configure do
     plugin :imagemagick
     protect_from_dos_attacks false
     secret 'd045734b043b4383a246c5c8daf2d3e31217dc8b030f21861e4fd16c4b72d382'
     url_format '/media/:job/:name'

     datastore :file,
               root_path: Rails.root.join('uploads/images/'),
               server_root: Rails.root.join('uploads')
    end

    Dragonfly.app(:videos).configure do
     secret 'd045734b043b4383a246c5c8daf2d3e31217dc8b030f21861e4fd16c4b72d382'
     url_format "/video/:job/:name"

     datastore :file,
               root_path: Rails.root.join('uploads/videos/'),
               server_root: Rails.root.join('uploads')
    end

    # Logger
    Dragonfly.logger = Rails.logger

    # Mount as middleware
    Rails.application.middleware.use Dragonfly::Middleware, :images
    Rails.application.middleware.use Dragonfly::Middleware, :videos

    # Add model functionality
    if defined?(ActiveRecord::Base)
     ActiveRecord::Base.extend Dragonfly::Model
     ActiveRecord::Base.extend Dragonfly::Model::Validations

  • Fast Video Streaming and Upload Android

    6 avril 2016, par vminind

    Fast Streaming & Uploading Videos On Mobile Apps with AWS S3

    Im developing a app witch has Android, iOS Clients were users can upload videos and photos and view as news feed. I store my video file on Amazone s3. Video length is limited to 30sec.

    When user is uploading 30 sec video from their gallery there are some high quality videos witch is even exceed 100MB so those video files take ages to upload. So i tried to convert them before upload using ffmpeg-android library but it also take almost same amount of time to convert the file so it seems this solution also point less. (convert in the scene reducing the video resolution and frame rate)

    Im using ExoPlayer to play videos

    Note : Videos uploading from iOS are not that huge files.

    I want videos to upload fast and stream fast. Its big help if anyone can share their thoughts on this.

  • ffmpeg recognises MXF dv but won't encode to h264

    6 août 2017, par 3pointedit

    I have a DV file encoded as an MXF that I want to transcode to h264. Running ffmpeg against the file it reads ok and understands the stream but won’t write the h264 file. It seems to get all the streams correct and I can confirm the attributes of video and audio streams.

    I just don’t understand why it won’t encode ? I tried to force a Decoder with -f dv but it complained that the source header was incorrect.
