  • FFMPEG PNG sequence into mkv cause "inflate returned error -3" every 600-800 frames [closed]

    30 novembre 2023, par sergey9295

I am new to ffmpeg. I try to use it for creating videos from png sequences. I have uncompressed pngs. All of them rgb24 format.

But during encoding process I get inflate errors. I compared PNG and video frame by frame. And video have approximately 1 dupe frame every 600-800 frames instead of the ones that should be on that places. I tried another codecs, tried to clear png's EXIF(it made things even worse), made sure that memory was enough. Doesn't matter.

The worst part is that this errors are pretty random. I encode one sequence 3 times and get 3 different sets of error-causing frames.

FFMPEG was downloaded from official site.

IMO the problem is zlib from libpng. But I don't have skills to recompile it with libspng that doesn't require zlib. Maybe there is a ffmpeg version without this error ?

  • Trying to compile ffmpeg and mpv in Arch Linux : error "undefined reference to pl_log_create_341" [closed]

4 février 2024, par Mike Nguyen

Ever since yesterday, I have been struggling to compile ffmpeg, and to a further extent, mpv, on Arch Linux due to the following error that is probably unique to my install :

    /usr/bin/ld: libavfilter/libavfilter.so: undefined reference to pl_log_create_341
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [Makefile:133: ffplay_g] Error 1
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
/usr/bin/ld: libavfilter/libavfilter.so: undefined reference to `pl_log_create_341'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [Makefile:133: ffprobe_g] Error 1
/usr/bin/ld: libavfilter/libavfilter.so: undefined reference to `pl_log_create_341'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [Makefile:133: ffmpeg_g] Error 1

I was trying to install mpd on my system, but pacman forced me to remove a ton of essential packages relating to multimedia, Qt, etc. I have since been able to reinstall most of these packages.

However, my ffmpeg has been corrupted (as well as mpv failing to start) due to another error that apparently no one else has been getting (I have searched Google for this) :

symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libavfilter.so.9: undefined symbol: pl_tone_map_auto

I have both libavfilter.so.9.12.100 and libavfilter.so.9.13.100 in my /usr/lib directory, and I am forced to run sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libavfilter.so.9.12.100 /usr/lib/libavfilter.so.9 every time I run pacman.

I have spent countless hours browsing the web about what solutions are available, but as I said, I seem to be the only one getting these errors.

Whether it's installing ffmpeg-git via the AUR, or removing and reinstalling mpv, nothing seems to fix the problem. And no one else is having this problem.

I might be forced to do a clean install of Arch Linux, but I don't have the time for it.

  • FFmpeg scale and watermark filters with VAAP gives error "Cannot allocate memory." [closed]

    8 février 2024, par Diz-X

I'm attempting to transcode any uploaded video on our website into H.264 using an ARC GPU (VAAPI). While I've achieved functionality, ffmpeg crashes after a certain period, displaying the error message : "Error while filtering : Cannot allocate memory."

The following is the ffmpeg command is used transcode videos to H.264 :

    ffmpeg -hwaccel vaapi -hwaccel_output_format vaapi -vaapi_device /dev/dri/renderD129 -y -i '/Media/001.mp4' -codec:v h264_vaapi -movflags +faststart -f mp4 -b:v 500k -maxrate 1000k -bufsize 500k -vf "movie=/Watermarks/video-watermark.png,hwupload [watermark] ; [in] scale_vaapi=trunc(iw/2)*2:trunc(ih/2)*2 [scale] ; [scale][watermark] overlay_vaapi=main_w-overlay_w:main_h-overlay_h [out]" -an -pass 1 -passlogfile /tmp/91f13b11b0ccd5195b588fb204da6626 -map_metadata -1 /dev/null

We ensure that the video is scaled to the appropriate video dimensions expected by H.264 codec , we use the "scale_vaapi=trunc(iw/2)*2:trunc(ih/2)*2" filter for this. We also apply a watermark to the video using the "overlay_vaapi=main_w-overlay_w:main_h-overlay_h" filter.

If I omit the ",hwupload" after the "movie=" statement, I encounter the following error : "Impossible to convert between the formats supported by the filter 'Parsed_movie_0' and the filter 'auto_scale_0'."

The "-filter-complex" results in the identical error : "Error while filtering : Cannot allocate memory.".

Does anyone have insights on how to enable hardware-accelerated transcoding for this ?
