• Compiling ffmpeg and using gas-preprocessor on Tiger ?

  Beginner trying to compile ffmpeg on a PowerMac G4, Mac OS X 10.4.11, Xcode 2.5 for use on this Mac (not iOS).

  I started out with Stephen Jungels tutorial (link), although it doesn’t cover Mac OS X 10.4 per se. I install LAME, FAAC/FAAD and x264 without errors. All goes well until I use ./configure for ffmpeg :

  ./configure --enable-shared --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libfaac --enable-libx264 --enable-gpl --enable-nonfree

  After some crunching, I get "Creating config.mak and config.h..." and an error "WARNING : GNU assembler not found, install gas-preprocessor". So I look for it online (https://github.com/yuvi/gas-preprocessor), move "gas-preprocessor.pl" to /usr/local/bin as instructed. Apparently it isn’t doing anything, as repeated configure gives the same error. Having gas-preprocessor.pl in the ffmpeg dir doesn’t seem to help either.

  Am I missing something that I should be doing with gas-preprocessor.pl ?

• What is the proper way to convert mp4-stream to .avi with FFmpeg ?

  I was wondering, what is the "proper" way of encoding online mp4-stream to avi.
  I converted couple of streams, but they won’t work on my xbx360, but all other movies in .avi works ; no matter of the resolution, video codec nor audio codec, they just work.

  So what is the proper way to convert a stream to avi ?

  My current code looks like this :

  bin\ffmpeg -i http://nelonenmedia-ondemand02.nelonenmedia.fi/18/online/video/video_episode_115102918.smil/playlist.m3u8 -vf scale=768:-1 -acodec libmp3lame -vcodec libxvid -vtag XVID -threads 0 -f avi -b:v 1000k "Cybertron\S01E01 Transformers Cybertron.avi"
  
  bin\ffmpeg -i http://nelonenmedia-ondemand02.nelonenmedia.fi/19/online/video/video_episode_115102919.smil/playlist.m3u8 -vf scale=768:-1 -acodec libmp3lame -vcodec libxvid -vtag XVID -threads 0 -f avi -b:v 1000k "Cybertron\S01E02 Transformers Cybertron.avi"
  
  ect...

  But that does not work on the xbox360. I have tried different resolutions and pretty much everything ; it just doesn’t work.

• FFMPEG version 0.6.5 video rotate

  I am writing a php code to rotate the video using ffmpeg 0.6.5 (This is the version installed on the client’s web-server). Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any documentation for this version of ffmpeg.

  Here is the command for ffmpeg I have written using few references I could find online.

  /usr/bin/ffmpeg -vfilters 'rotate=90' -i /hsphere/local/home/testdomain.com/ffmpeg-php-class-master/examples/media/nsa.mp4 /hsphere/local/home/testdomain.com/ffmpeg-php-class-master/examples/media/output.mp4

  The main part of the error is the last line - [17]=> string(24) "Unrecognized option ’vfilters’" int(1)

  I have tried using -vf as well instead of vfilters and I get the same error.

  Could someone please help me with any pointers ? I am open to any other technique to rotate video orientation. I have to rotate and save the video in the correct orientation.
