MediaSPIP automatically converts uploaded files to internet-compatible formats.
Video files are encoded in MP4, Ogv and WebM (supported by HTML5) and MP4 (supported by Flash).
Audio files are encoded in MP3 and Ogg (supported by HTML5) and MP3 (supported by Flash).
Where possible, text is analyzed in order to retrieve the data needed for search engine detection, and then exported as a series of image files.

  • Streaming WebM files on unsupported browsers (Safari, IE, etc)

    14 juillet 2015, par Swaathi K

I’d like to stream WebM videos to browsers that don’t support it (like Safari/IE). I have no problem in converting the video to a supportable format (like MP4), but the encoding should be on-demand, that is, the server should stream the MP4 content while it’s being converted from Web (WebM -> MP4). I’ve seen a few solutions like Dash and Stream-M, but all these seem to do it the other way around (MP4 -> WebM). Is there a solution that already exists for my problem ? Or do I need to build my own hack ? And also is this solution the only way to stream WebM content onto Safari/IE ?

webmdashenc : Support for live stream manifests

This patch adds support for creating DASH manifests for WebM Live
Streams. It also updates the documentation and adds a fate test to
verify the behavior of the new muxer flag.

  • Documented ffmpeg commands not recognized by ffmpeg

    2 avril 2020, par agconti

I'm trying to use options like, ldash and http_opts, as the dash muxer docs describe but FFmpeg doesn't recognize them. I'm on the latest released version of ffmpeg, v4.2.2. I see the changes in the ffmpeg master branch but not in the v4.2 release branch. Does ffmpeg not recognize them because they haven't been released yet ?

Here's the dash muxer docs for reference : https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-all.html#dash-2
