  • Ffmpeg generated movie (png -> mp4) has no video

    I have a whole bunch of png’s which I would like to convert into a mp4 video.
    I am using the following command to stich them together :
    ffmpeg -i _2016-04-20_14-51-00-500_%06d.png -pix_fmt yuv420p movie.mp4

    I am getting a file, which has a size so it isn’t empty. But when I play it in VLC or Quicktime it shows the time going by, but it has no video in it. Any idea what I’m doing wrong ?
    I also tried :

    ffmpeg -framerate 1/5 -i _2016-04-20_14-51-00-500_%06d.png -c:v libx264 -r 30 -pix_fmt yuv420p out.mp4

    and

    ffmpeg -r 45 -f image2 -s 1920x1080 -i _2016-04-20_14-51-00-500_%06d.png -vcodec libx264 -crf 25  -pix_fmt yuv420p test.mp4

    But still no video.

  • avconv : from multiple png to movie not exporting correctly

    I am trying to generate a mp4 movie from a set of pngs using avconv on my debian8 system. The mp4 file its generating basically looping over the first figure for some time. Here is the command I am using

    avconv -r 10 -start_number 8 -i images_%06d.png -b:v 1000k -vf scale=640 :-1 test.mp4

    I have also tried

    (Debian 4.9.2-10) Codec AVOption b (set bitrate (in bits/s)) specified
    for output file #0 (test2.mp4) has not been used for any stream. The
    most likely reason is either wrong type (e.g. a video option with no
    video streams) or that it is a private option of some encoder which
    was not actually used for any stream. Output #0, image2pipe, to
    ’test2.mp4’ : Output file #0 does not contain any stream

    When getting frames fromtest.mp4

    avconv -i test.mp4 -r 30 -f image2 %04d.png

    I found 1000 or more copies of the images_000001.png.

    Would you please help, whether I have made any mistake in commands ? Or am I missing some codec options ? Thanks for the help.

  • Rails Streamio FFMPEG taking a screenshot of the movie and upload with carrierwave

    I have got a Form where I can upload a movie. Its uploaded with carrierwave.

    In this process I want to Make a screenshot of the movie while uploading.

    How can I do this with Streamio FFMPEG.

    My code Looks like this at the moment.

    Do I have to do this in controller method or in the carrierwave uplaoder ?

    Update : I tried it this way :

    But then I got tis error :
