  • FFmpeg's trim filter to handle movie files with non-zero start_time for a transcoding task ?

    19 août 2014, par Drake

For a movie file (ex, ooxx.mp4) with non-zero start_time in video stream, the negative start_time (ex, -0.5) can mean skipping first 0.5s frames, and the positive start_time (ex, 0.7s) can mean postponing the playback for 0.7s.

I’m wondering if we can make use of FFmpeg’s trim filter (or something else) to strip out some video frames (for negative start_time) or put some empty (ex, black) frames ahead (for positive start_time) automatically ?

  • Download m3u8 playlist and merge into one C#

    10 août 2014, par trinvh

    Solution 1 :

I tried this by using create a ffmpeg wrapper, read output from cmd with following command :

    -i \"{m3u8-url-for-download}\" -y -c copy -bsf:a aac_adtstoasc \"{destination-filename}\"

I can get duration, current state for downloading. Everything seems be ok. However sometimes it crashed and I can’t detect why. It isn’t ALWAYS, but SOMETIME.

    Solution 2 :

I download m3u8 playlist file and get contents within it. It contains an array *.ts file url that I can easily download by using HttpClient. But I don’t know how to combine these *.ts file into one mp4 file that keeps their format.

Are there other solutions for doing this ?

  • ffmpeg movie with 'frame reordering'

    28 juillet 2014, par CRGreen

How does one, if possible, manipulate ffmpeg x264 settings to allow for what QuickTime calls "frame re-ordering" — that is, the ability to play a movie backwards smoothly (and do what is called "scrubbing") ? An example of my code is this :

    /usr/local/bin/ffmpeg -i '/path/to/moviefile.mov' -acodec mp3 -b:a 55k -vcodec libx264 -s 640x400 -pix_fmt yuv420p -b:v 2700k 'path/to/outputmoviefile.mov'

The output movie using this code is good, seems optimized for playing forward, but does not seem so good for playing the movie backwards or scrubbing.
