Why are there vaapi filters that exist in libavfilter but do not exist in my compiled version of ffmpeg ?
13 juin 2020, par John AllardI've compiled the most recent snapshot of ffmpeg with
vaapi
enabled

$ ffmpeg -hwaccesls
ffmpeg version N-98129-g0b182ff Copyright (c) 2000-2020 the FFmpeg developers

Hardware acceleration methods:
vaapi

I know that
vaapi
is working because I can use it for hardware decoding and encoding of h264 videos. I can see somevaapi
filters as well

$ ffmpeg -filters | grep vaapi
 ... deinterlace_vaapi V->V (null)
 ... denoise_vaapi V->V (null)
 ... procamp_vaapi V->V (null)
 ... scale_vaapi V->V (null)
 ... sharpness_vaapi V->V (null)

However, I notice that this list is missing the filter that I'm specifically looking for, namely ,
transpose_vaapi
. If you look in the libavfilter source code you'll see the following

This shows the
transpose_vaapi
filter defined in theallfilters.c
file
https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/blob/master/libavfilter/allfilters.c#L414

This shows the
transpose_vaapi
filter source code
https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/blob/master/libavfilter/vf_transpose_vaapi.c

If the filter is defined in source code, it's defined in
allfilters.c
, and I've compiled ffmpeg from this source withvaapi
enabled, why can I not use this filter with ffmpeg ?

$ ffmpeg -y -hide_banner -nostats -loglevel error \
 -hwaccel vaapi -hwaccel_device /dev/dri/renderD128 -hwaccel_output_format vaapi \
 -i ./test_video.mp4 \
 -vf 'format=nv12,transpose_vaapi=2' \
 -c:v h264_vaapi \
 /tmp/rotated_video.mp4
[AVFilterGraph @ 0xf14000] No such filter: 'transpose_vaapi'
Error reinitializing filters!
Failed to inject frame into filter network: Invalid argument

EDIT -

Looking through the source code for
vf_transpose_vaapi.c
I see the following logic

if (!pipeline_caps.rotation_flags) {
 av_log(avctx, AV_LOG_ERROR, "VAAPI driver doesn't support transpose\n");
 return AVERROR(EINVAL);
 }

that's inside of the
transpose_vaapi_build_filter_params
function which is part of the filter initialization process. I guess it's possible that, if that call failed, the filter would fail to be built and it would not be registered as a valid filter ? This seems like something that would happen at runtime when I attempt to run the filter rather than something that would happen at compile time when setting which filters are defined.

FFMPEG HTTP to RTP then RTP to HTTP with OPUS
20 juin 2020, par Brad HambletonI'm taking a HTTP output to FFMPEG and copying the audio (no video) to an RTP :
ffmpeg -i http://192.168.0.40:20110 -c:a copy -f rtp rtp ://192.168.87.40:20210 ?pkt_size=1328 -sdp_file opus.sdp

At the other end receiving the RTP and pushing it back to HTTP :
ffmpeg -re -protocol_whitelist rtp,file,udp -i opus.sdp -c:a copy -listen 1 -method GET -f opus http://192.168.87.40:20220

2 Problems :

-

- Currently the encoding process doesn't optimize packets.
92 1.004672 192.168.0.40 192.168.0.40 UDP 392 52954 → 20210 Len=332
93 1.004727 192.168.0.40 192.168.0.40 UDP 392 52954 → 20210 Len=332
94 1.004789 192.168.0.40 192.168.0.40 UDP 392 52954 → 20210 Len=332
95 1.004855 192.168.0.40 192.168.0.40 UDP 392 52954 → 20210 Len=332
96 1.004908 192.168.0.40 192.168.0.40 UDP 392 52954 → 20210 Len=332

Each packet length is 332, which leaves a lot of wasted space. I'd like to get close to 1500 (Stack 4 together I get 1328 which is close enough)
Is there a command in the FFMPEG/RTP that will optimize packets ?
I added ?pkt_size=1328 to the RTP however that only sets max, not preferred.

-

- I get the following error when I try to HTTP to RTP via copy :
C :\Decode>ffmpeg -re -protocol_whitelist rtp,file,udp -i opus.sdp -c:a copy -listen 1 -method GET -f opus http://192.168.0.40:20220

Could not write header for output file #0 (incorrect codec parameters ?) : Invalid data found when processing input
Stream mapping :
Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy)

Tried a variety of additions to the RTP to HTTP CLI to get it to work, but still nothing.

-flags -global_header -reconnect_streamed 1 -headers "X-Forwarded-For : 13.14.15.66"

Is there a specific OPUS or HTTP header that can be added to get it to work. Decoding and Encoding does work for RTP to HTTP, the idea isn't to decode/encode at either point, just to copy the audio, change the container..

Cheers

ffmpeg conversion from MOV to mp4 - how to conserve creation date
13 juin 2020, par jacobacciWindows 10 1909, latest updates.

I am helping a friend move his photos and videos from one Apple ID to another.
I have downloaded all items to my PC using iCloud for PC. I then proceeded to re-upload all the photos to the new Apple ID.
2'000 of the videos are MOV, which I cannot upload to iCloud. I seem to need to convert them to mp4 in order to upload them.

I have converted all of the MOVs to mp4 using the following batch

FOR /F "tokens=*" %%G IN ('dir /b *.MOV') DO ffmpeg -i "%%G" -f mp4 -vcodec copy -acodec mp3 "%%~nG.mp4"

This worked fine and I managed to upload the (now) mp4's to iCloud. Unfortunately all the mp4's now carry yesterday's date as creation date. In iCloud (and on the iPad) all the videos are now displayed with a creation date of 12.6.2020 and it is impossible to find a particular video. Also the context to the photos is lost.

Question :

-

- Is there any way to (batch) convert 2'000 MOV to mp4 while preserving the creation date ?
- alternatively : is there any way to upload the original MOV files to iCloud ?
