• FFMPEG (BASH) Trying to record stream from IP camera, getting really bad framerates and random stuttering in video

  I’m trying to record an .asf from my IP camera using FFMPEG to save it as an .mp4 file every 15 minutes. The stream coming from the camera is variable, but averages at around 10 FPS. However, when I watch the output mp4, the framerate is much lower, and there is often stuttering, random frame skips, and sometimes the video freezes and doesn’t play (on VLC player).

  Is there any way I can make the recording smoother and/or have less stuttering ?

  Here is the code that I use :

  ffmpeg -i http://USER:PASSWORD@IP:PORT/videostream.asf -r 10 -vcodec copy -an -t 900 /root/Record/"$(date +"%Y_%m_%d %I.%M %p")".mp4

  Any help would be appreciated.

• Problems getting real width and height of videos

  I'm having a problem when I upload videos. The thing is that I record my videos with my cellphone in vertical way and when I download them to my computer or pass them through whatsapp they still look vertical, I can still watch them in vertical way as I recorded them, but when I try to upload them on my website using PHP and FFMPEG I always get horizontal resolutions.

  


  I use this command to get the width of my videos :

  


  $width = $video_attributes['width'] ;

  


  The variable $video_attributes is an array that comes from a FFMPEG function that returns an array with the data related to the video.

  


  Somebody could help me out with some ideas about what I'm doing wrong ?

  


  I need to get the vertical resolution so my videos will be displayed in vertical containers in my website.

  i want to convert video using ffmpeg and youtube-dl in wsl2.

  


  Im using this command :

  


  ffmpeg -ss 0:0:18 -to 0:1:30 -i "$(youtube-dl -f 18 --get-url 'https://www.youtube.com/watch\?v\=D4gs1nKnO-o')" -c:v copy -c:a copy ~/output_video.mp4


  


  And it produces output as below :

  but when i try to create file in directory xyz it works fine :

  My question is, how to make ffmpeg works on wsl2 ?
