• FFMPEG stream desktop to youtube

  There are tutorials out there on how to stream to youtube using ffmpeg, and I have that part of the code done.
  However, I do not know how to stream the desktop in ffmpeg. The tutorials online only show usage of web cams. Anyway, What software do I use to capture the screen and stream using ffmpeg.
  Can I do this natively in ffmpeg. If so, how ?

  what I have so far is

   ffmpeg -re -ar 44100 -ac 2 -acodec pcm_s16le -f s16le -ac 2 -i /dev/zero -f h264 -i pipe:0 -c:v copy -c:a aac -ab 128k -g 40 -strict experimental -f flv -r 30 rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/$1

  where the $1 is a command line param.

• Is there a way to use youtube-dl in async

  I have an application where I use zmq with asyncio to communicate with the clients who have the ability to download a video with youtube-dl to the server. I tried adding await to youtube_dl's download function but it gave me an error since it was not a coroutine. My code right now is simply looking like this :

  whereas I would expect the Working.. message to be printed in between youtube-dl's messages as well. Am I missing something here or is this impossible with async/await ? Is ffmpeg blocking ? If so, can I run the download in async without converting to mp3 or is using threads the only way ?

  I have a YouTube live streaming currently set up here :

  Everything works great - except iOS devices intermittently fail to play the stream. Looking through the device logs and raw m3u8 files I notice that one .TS segment length is > 10, which is where the file fails to play throwing an error that the EXTINF is greater than double the expected length.

  If I turn off the "DVR" function in the YouTube Live Control Panel everything works perfectly since the single .TS file (sometimes 4 hours ago) is no longer present in the m3u8 file.

  I’m streaming to YouTube via ffmpeg and have other camera angles that seem to fail less frequently (but they do fail).

  Has anyone else experienced this ? It seems like a bug on the YouTube side - but they haven’t been any help.
