Restoring corrupted video after recovery
22 août 2019, par Harold.DemureI have recently recovered the content of an old drive of mine using photorec.
To my surprise, photorec recovered a lot of files with non-video extensions (.sqlite, .apple, .pdf, .torrent...) that contain fragments of video. I can see these fragments only using mplayer/mencoder (quicktime and vlc cannot). Some of the files are even hundreds of megabyte large, but mplayer only shows me a few seconds of the video.
Is there any script/data carving tool that I can use to see if I can recover more video fragments from these files ? I am not afraid of trying solutions that require some coding or manual inspection (e.g., search for headers via hex editors).
Thank you for your help, any suggestion is highly appreciated.

Launching ffmpeg from inside my C code doesn't convert video stream from fifo
13 mai 2017, par abraxas1(Beaglebone Black, ubuntu 16.04 linux 4.4.62-ti-r99)
I have a raw h264 feed coming into my C program (into a callback from a custom API) and then I named-piped the raw h264 to a file and this CLI command converts that file successfully.
ffmpeg -report -re -framerate 30 -y -f h264 -i orbi_0148.cam1.h264 -c:v copy -an -video_size 1920x1080 -f mp4 orbi_0148.cam1-1.mp4
I then try to launch this command from my program with the same options using execv(),
first mkfifo the fifo’s,
then launch ffmpeg (shown below) starts the streaming form the cameras to my callback function, and out to the fifos.
I close the fifos at the end of video recording, and don’t get any file created and get this output, which I don’t understand at all.
(the successful command line output follows below this output generated from execv())
thanks, any help much appreciated.
hardware has come in now and the spot light is on me.(execv output with options -report -y -i /tmp/fifocam3.h264 -c:v copy -an -video_size 1920x1080 -f mp4 /media/sd-card/orbi_0140.cam3.mp4)

Error while using h264_cuvid decoder with ffmpeg
8 octobre 2023, par tthibaltiI am trying to decode a video using the NVIDIA cuvid hardware acceleration with ffmpeg.

I am using a NVIDIA GeForce GT 745M Graphics card (GPU:GK107), which is compatible with cuvid as specified by NVIDIA here

I compiled ffmpeg with the following flags :

./configure --enable-cuda --enable-nvenc --enable-cuvid

Then, I used ffmpeg with the following command line :

ffmpeg.exe -hwaccel cuvid -c:v h264_cuvid -i video.mkv video.mkv

ffmpeg finishes and seems to be unable to open cuvid functions :

Cannot load cuvidGetDecoderCaps
[h264_cuvid @ 07047b80] Failed loading nvcuvid.
Stream mapping:
 Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (h264 (h264_cuvid) -> h264 (libx264))

 Stream #0:3 -> #0:2 (subrip (srt) -> ass (ssa))
Error while opening decoder for input stream #0:0 : Unknown error occurred

In ffmpeg source code, I can find out that this error message is printed by the following macro :

#define LOAD_SYMBOL(fun, tp, symbol) \
 do { \
 if (!((f->fun) = (tp*)dlsym(f->lib, symbol))) { \
 av_log(NULL, AV_LOG_ERROR, "Cannot load %s\n", symbol); \
 ret = AVERROR_UNKNOWN; \
 goto error; \
 } \
 av_log(NULL, AV_LOG_TRACE, "Loaded sym: %s\n", symbol); \
 } while (0)

Which is called by :

Does anybody know if a specific file is needed by cuvid to load its functions ?
Any clue to what is wrong here ?
