• Resque does not find ffmpeg

  I am using resque to queue some encoding jobs. I have workers that pick up these jobs and do some transcoding.
  The issue is system "mencoder .." works fine but system "ffmpeg .." throws not found and the same to with system "qt-faststart .."
  I installed mencoder using sudo apt-get install.
  ffmpeg and qt-faststart were built from source.
  So mencoder was in /usr/bin and the other two in /usr/local/bin.
  So, the next thing I tried was using full path in the system command, that also returned not found.
  Then I copied ffmpeg and qt-faststart into /usr/bin.. Still got "Not Found"
  My worker code runs standalone but when god runs it, ffmpeg and qt-fasstart fail to execute. Yes, I have god configured to watch resque. Now, I don't know what else to try ! Any ideas ?

• JW Player can't play mp4 video downloaded from youtube

  I have doenloaded am mp4 video using IE Realplayer plugin from youtube.

  I have a test site on my local machine where I have HTML5 JW Player.

  I download the video and then play locally using realplay to see if it plays.
  I notice that not all mp4 downloads from youtube plays in Realplayer.
  The ones that play in Realplayer also play in JW Player on local website.
  But the mp4 files that don’t play in Realplayer also don’t play in JW player.

  This is the error I get in the player :
  the video playback was aborted due to a corruption problem or because the video used features your browser didnot support mylocalsite/xyz.mp4 undefined

  I tested IE, FF, Chrome. It works nowhere.

  Here is my jw player setup and html :

  What can be causing this issue ?

• Downloading a Few Seconds of Audio from a Youtube Video with ffmpeg and youtube-dl Results in [youtube] : No such file or directory error

  Below is the program that I wrote :

  ffmpeg -ss 60 -t 10 -i $(youtube-dl -f 140 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDCk3hLIVXo) output.mp3

  This is supposed to get 10 seconds of audio starting at the one minute mark of the video and write it to output.mp3. If I run the youtube-dl command separately, and then the ffmpeg command with the entire video audio as input, it works. But, I do not want to download the entire video as well as create a new file with only a few seconds of audio.

  In its current state, I am getting [youtube] : No such file or directory errors. Does anyone know how I can fix this and keep it in one line ?
