• call avio_open function with non-english filename is invalid

  i have been writing unicode based program with libav and i wanna make some file through libav with filename "中.mp4".

  this filename is not english, and when i call, function return positive integer(not fail).

  but there is "ѱ۰.mp4" instead of "中.mp4". (invalid file name.)

  what's the matter ?

• Set a subtitle language using ffmpeg

  I tried googling a way to set the language of a subtitle stream with ffmpeg and found the -slang option. So I tried the following command but immediately receive an error :

  ffmpeg -i input.avi -i subs.srt -c:a copy -c:s mov_text -slang eng -c:v libx264 -profile:v high -level:v 4.0 output.mp4

  After more googling I found another way to do it using the -metadata command :

  ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -i subs.srt -c:a copy -c:v copy -c:s mov_text -metadata:s:s:0 language=eng output.mp4

  And that works absolutely fine. But this isn’t mentioned in the ffmpeg man page, whereas -slang is, which makes me think the -metadata command is maybe outdated or in some other way not as good as -slang.

  1. What is the difference between using the two above methods (-slang vs -metadata) ?
  2. Why did my -slang command give an error ? Have I used it incorrectly ?

  I need investigate a DVD structure Using code for example c# or ffmpeg.
  I need information about the number of chapters in DVD(duration of each chapter,titles and VOB related)

  This seems like exactly what I need and the exe is working, but the solution seems to be very old and I cant execute it in VS2010 and progrematically extract data.

  Is there any simple way to analyze the IFO file within the DVD using C# or something like that ? or some software that run from cmd and output the answers.
