  • BisonCam NB Pro not working correctly in VMware Xubuntu 16.04

    29 août 2016, par bot1131357

I am trying to access my webcam (BisonCam, NB Pro) on a VMWare Xubuntu 16.04 virtual machine using ffmpeg, but it’s not working. Here’s what I did :

    $ ./ffmpeg -f v4l2 -i /dev/video0 ~/Dev/out.avi
ffmpeg version N-81392-ga453bbb Copyright (c) 2000-2016 the FFmpeg developers
     built with gcc 5.4.0 (Ubuntu 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.2) 20160609
     configuration: --pkg-config-flags=--static --enable-shared --enable-pic --enable-libvpx --prefix=/home/ytan/Dev/build-x64

     libavformat    57. 47.101 / 57. 47.101
     libavdevice    57.  0.102 / 57.  0.102
     libavfilter     6. 52.100 /  6. 52.100
     libswscale      4.  1.100 /  4.  1.100
     libswresample   2.  1.100 /  2.  1.100

The webcam LED turned on, but the console remained like that for as long as I let it. When I press ’Ctrl + c’, the following message is returned :

    Input #0, video4linux2,v4l2, from '/dev/video0':
     Duration: N/A, bitrate: 88473 kb/s
       Stream #0:0: Video: rawvideo (YUY2 / 0x32595559), yuyv422, 1280x720, 88473 kb/s, 6 fps, 6 tbr, 1000k tbn, 1000k tbc
    File '/home/ytan/Dev/out.avi' already exists. Overwrite ? [y/N] y
[avi @ 0x1f4a680] Using AVStream.codec to pass codec parameters to muxers is deprecated, use AVStream.codecpar instead.
    Output #0, avi, to '/home/ytan/Dev/out.avi':

       Stream #0:0: Video: mpeg4 (FMP4 / 0x34504D46), yuv420p, 1280x720, q=2-31, 200 kb/s, 6 fps, 6 tbn, 6 tbc

       Side data:

    Stream mapping:
     Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (rawvideo (native) -> mpeg4 (native))
Could not write header for output file #0 (incorrect codec parameters ?): Immediate exit requested
    Exiting normally, received signal 2.

At this point I figured that somehow ffmpeg isn’t able to read the frames from the webcam. Just to double-check, I tried running cheese to see if the issue is not exclusive to ffmpeg, and I was right. Here is a screenshot.

Can someone help me with this ?

  • Set fake duration on h264 video

    1er février 2017, par Ibrahim

I have a script that fetches multiple chunks of a video from one place and streams it as a single video to other place (to Kodi player).

Everything seems to work fine except one thing that bothers me, the player doesn’t seem to know how long the video is, therefore the total duration increments as the video plays.

I do know the duration of the video from an xml file that contains a link to all the chunks, but I don’t know how to write that in the metadata of the first chunk.

The video codec is h264, but I’m not sure if it is wrapped in some container, like mp4.

Here is the ffmpeg -i output for the first chunk :

And here is a messy screenshot of the file opened in a hex editor :
    https://www.evernote.com/l/AWlILw5PcmVEl4fSFitOfS2M8Wzy1WTVSZc

Any suggestions of how to insert the video duration in the metadata of the first chunk ?

I cannot download the all the chunks and then concat in a single file because this will take too much time and the streaming must be instantly.

  • Android ffmpeg library use

    30 octobre 2017, par m.skolimowski

I’m pretty new to use of ffmpeg library. I used this http://writingminds.github.io/ffmpeg-android-java/ to add library to my android studio project. It works well when I run the command -version or -devices
However when I try any command with -i beginning like for example -i video.avi I get the error :
