  • How much should I download from a mp4 to get it's metadata only

    I need to refresh metadata for large mp4 files in a database, I don’t want to download the hole file to get the frame rate and resolution.

    By experimentation I found that downloading only 1MB will suffice for ffmpeg -i to show me the info.

    Can you point me to documentation that explains this ?

    I have multiple source audio streams and need to download and write those to separate files. What’s the most efficient way to do this ? I’ve been using ffmpeg in multiple shells, which is obviously a ridiculous hack.

    To ease illustration, below are commands to separately download two streams. What’s the most efficient way to consolidate these processes ?

  • How to start a download when file is processing by a software

    I encode a file with a special watermark for be downlaoded by the user
    I would like to be able to start the downlaod when ffmpeg encode the file.

    I have a php page which one create the water mark , launch ffmpeg and start the download with X-sendifle
    The download don’t start, adding sleep(15) let’s the download start just I receive only what is done

    Actually I use Apache2 as the webserver with X-sendfile mod
