    I am using ffmpeg to view video for dash player. But the videos used are more than 1GB, and the server has
    60 GB of RAM
    Ten cores

    The server takes more than 50 hours to process a video.
    The method I use is by separating each operation thread to make it faster ,
    and the files in the end have size between 2 to 5 GB

    dash params variable

    VP9_DASH_PARAMS="-tile-columns 4 -frame-parallel 1"

    cmd :

    ffmpeg  -i  vid_origenal.mp4 -c:v libx265  -s 1920x1080 -b:v 3000k -keyint_min 150 -g 150 ${VP9_DASH_PARAMS} -an -f webm -dash 1  1080.webm >/dev/null 2>&1 &

    I use this for all qualities

  • ffmpeg incompatible with output codec id

    Trying to create the dash segments with the below command :

    ./ffmpeg -y -err_detect careful -analyzeduration 8000000 -probesize 4000000 -rtbufsize 300000 -flush_packets 0  -fflags +genpts+discardcorrupt -f mpegts -i  Sample.ts -c copy -f dash -window_size 40 -min_seg_duration 8000000 -use_timeline 1 -use_template 1 live.mpd

    But I get below error :

    [mp4 @ 0x3fc0280] Tag [27][0][0][0] incompatible with output codec id '28' (avc1)
    
Could not write header for output file #0 (incorrect codec parameters ?): Invalid data found when processing input

    ffmpeg release/3.4.
    dashenc.c is on

    commit 1b8ef01f04ab2210a26b59d3a1a62daed52ce88a

    Instead of dash If I use mp4 there are no issues.

    Do we need to compulsorily transcode ?

  • Apple HLS h.264 encoding

    I know thta this is a legal question, but since this involves ffmpeg and libx264 i am going here

    For using Apple’s HLS or Mpeg Dash video streaming technology, should we pay any royalties to MPEGLA ?

    We use ffmpeg with libx264 to generate the content. ffmpeg and libx264 are free softwares but h.264 and Dash are patented technologies
