  • Le profil des utilisateurs

    Chaque utilisateur dispose d’une page de profil lui permettant de modifier ses informations personnelle. Dans le menu de haut de page par défaut, un élément de menu est automatiquement créé à l’initialisation de MediaSPIP, visible uniquement si le visiteur est identifié sur le site.

  • Program hangs while using ffprobe on file with teletext subtitles

    Having a problem running ffprobe on an MKV file that contains teletext subtitles. Code is in a C# library and works fine for other MKV files.

    The filename has a UNC path - tried using the FileName parameter but got an error, hence passing the filename via the arguments.

    If I run the following commandline :

    My problem is, the process appears to hang. I took out the 'CreateNoWindow' option and, of course, I get a big blank window onscreen that normally just flashs by on a normal file. With the teletext subtitle file however, it persists. If I manually close it, the program continues and I seem to get the output I want.

    So my question is, how can I debug this further, to find out why this is hanging and how to handle the error (or simply ignore it) and continue ?

  • Learn Multimedia Programming By Writing A JPEG Decoder

    For those of you who hack on multimedia tech, how did you get started ? Did you begin by studying the mathematical underpinnings of multimedia codec algorithms ? Or did you find a practical problem and jump right in by writing code ? (Personally, I was always more of a nuts & bolts hacker than a math guy.) I ask because I occasionally get emails from aspiring multimedia hackers who want to know where to begin. Invariably, they want to go the math-first route. I heavily discourage this approach.

    I have a crazy idea for anyone who wants a crash course on multimedia hacking : write a JPEG decoder. In doing so, you will be exposed to a lot of key domain concepts such as bitstream parsing, Huffman decoding, dequantization, zigzagging, the dreaded (inverse) discrete cosine transform, YUV vs. RGB colorspaces, macroblock organization, delta coding, and run length coding.

    Sure, JPEG decoding is a solved problem. But that’s hardly the point. Why would you enter an unfamiliar field and hope to come up to speed on the basics by leaping straight into the domain’s unsolved problems ? If you are successful in this exercise, no one will ever use the fruits of your labor, but that doesn’t really matter.

    So, do you want to learn multimedia hacking quickly ? Then grab a JPEG file (maybe create a few contrived ones that are small, have friendly dimensions, and feature predictable patterns), grab a good JPEG reference, and implement the decoding algorithm in the language and platform of your choice.

    On the matter of the reference, my personal favorite reference has always been A note about the JPEG decoding algorithm by Cristi Cuturicu. The English grammar is a bit dodgy but overall, it might be the best reference you’ll find on the matter— as simple as it needs to be, but no simpler.

  • H.264 (MP4) video not play in IE9, but will play in Safari [closed]

    I have encoded a video using FFMPEG into three formats : WebM, MP4, and FLV. Chrome, Mozilla, and theoretically Opera (although I haven't tested it) should all use the WebM version. IE9, iOS devices, and Adriod should use the MP4 container. While all legacy browsers should default back to the flash version of the file. I'm using video-js to help serve the content. The content is set to preload and autoplay.

    I have found that everything is working as intended except for IE9, where all I get is the poster image and a white dot that typically spins indicating that the file is loading however it is not spinning in this scenario. The MP4 file opens in Safari, an iPad, an iPhone, and an Andriod - verifying that the file is infact legit.

    The following is the specs for the MP4 file when I stream it using VLC. I don't know if this is particularly useful, I'm just trying to provide as much detail as possible.

    When accessing videojs.com from my coworkers computer, the video on their main page wouldn't play the video correctly in IE9, but we could hear the audio. When I went to another coworkers computer it played just fine. I'm wondering if IE9, or video-js, is tempermental depending on how updated your OS is.

    The fact that I'm working on XP with IE7 is making this all the more difficult to fix, so if you have any suggestions on what could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it !
