  • How to get time stamp of closet k-frame before a given timestamp with ffmpeg ?

    20 février 2013, par jAckOdE

    I want a ffmpeg seeking command that fast and accurate. I found this

    The solution is that we apply -ss for both input (fast seeking) and output (accurate seeking). The question is that if the input seeking is not accurate how can we be sure that the seeking position is accurate.

    For example : as the example used in the link, if we want to seek to 00:03:00, the command is something likes

    ffmpeg -ss 00:02:30 -i ... -ss 00:00:30
    As said, the first seeking will seek to somewhere else not 00:02:30, say 00:02:31. and after applying second seek, the final result would be 00:03:01- NOT what we want. Is that correct ?

    Where does fist seeking seek to ? Does it seek to k-frame that closet to 00:02:30 ?

    If so, here is my thought, correct me if i'm wrong : after first seeking, we get the timestamp of the result (in this example : 00:02:31), then we apply second seeking with appropriate time, in this case 00:00:29.

    Question is how do we get time stamp of first seeking's result ?

  • ffmpeg and streaming video - frame time issue

    6 mai 2014, par 4ntoine

    I’ve compiled ffmpeg-android (https://github.com/appunite/AndroidFFmpeg) and it works for files.
    The problem is that it shows nothing for network streams (both rtmp and hls) as frame timestamp is too big and it seems to be not from video beginning (as for file). Then it waits for the first frame time which for network stream is too big :

    So what is the meaning of timestamp for stream and what should i change to make it playing streams (rtmp/hls - its can be opened now but it wait for frame time which is far in the future) ?

    UPDATE :

       int64_t pts = av_frame_get_best_effort_timestamp(frame);
    if (pts == AV_NOPTS_VALUE) {
       pts = 0;
    }
    int64_t time = av_rescale_q(pts, stream->time_base, AV_TIME_BASE_Q);
    LOGI(10,
           "player_decode_video Decoded video frame: %f, time_base: %" SCNd64,
           time/1000000.0, pts);
    player_wait_for_frame(player, time, stream_no);

    it extracts time which is far in future :

    player_wait_for_frame[0 = Video] = (568.233000) - (0.000977)

    Is it correct ?

  • Stripping 'actual time of day' from AVI files

    22 avril 2014, par wxJunkie

    I have TB’s of AVI|DV|VOB files. I want to run a script that will enable me to find the real start time + end time AND the navigation (latitude & longitude) that is embedded in the audio of each of the clips that I have and export the list perhaps to a .txt or .doc list. I use a SMPTE reader now that can read the time that is embedded in the video, so there has to be a script that will pull those certain criteria’s out ?

    I have ran several codes in the past that has given me :
    duration : 00:01:23.83 start : 0.0000000, bitrate 28771 kb/s etc.
    I always get ’start : 0.0000000’ for each clip and I need the real start time of each clip.

    Is this possible ?
