  • FFMPEG : Set output res and bitrate depending upon input video

    I’m processing user videos with differing aspect ratios. It seems FFMPEG only allows you to specify a fixed resolution. I want the output res to be appropriate for the input res. Similarly, I’d like FFMPEG to intelligently set the output bitrate based on the input video : obviously it shouldn’t be any bigger than the input.

    I can get the properties of a video with,

    ffmpeg -i example.flv

    But this requires some ugly parsing of the output, so I’m wondering if FFMPEG or some other tool has a more direct facility.

    Basically, I have the Youtube problem : crap comes in, reasonably uniform quality should come out.

  • FFMPEG reads fps of input h264 file wrong, resulting in wrong duration of output file

    I am trying to convert an .h264 file created with python from an incoming stream to xvid format with ffmpeg.

    The file is 30min long and 12fps. However, the converted file automatically creates a file that is 25fps and thus 14.4min long. If I set fps like ffmpeg -i test.h264 -r 12 test.avi it creates a video of 14.4min long with a fps of 12.

    How can I set it to see the incoming video as 12fps ? I tried recording immediately in xvid coded in python using FOURCC but on mac OS X the only codec that seems to work is mp4v. I also tried using MP4Box, which creates the right video duration and fps but for which I cannot set it to the xvid coded (which I need).

    I need your help about Android FFMPEG .

    I tried to run halfninja's projectTest but some errors are occurred.

    First error is occurred and it has been fixed by following suggestion : android ffmpeg halfninja av_open_input_file returns -2 (no such file or directory)

    Then after run again, I have this error :
