  rtmpproto : avoid setting auth var value if null
  Use default values if parsed variable is found not to
  
  have any value. Avoids crashing at strlen for salt/user
  
  on the auth call afterwards and needless NULL assignments
  
  for the rest (default is already NULL for those).
  Should fix Coverity Scan issues #966644 and #966645

• Is ffmpeg a good upscaler from SD to HD ?

  Is ffmpeg a good upscaler to convert SD videos to HD ?

  I use the AVANTI GUI. I installed it and put the ffmpeg and ffplay exe into the folder ffmpeg in the program folder. What I know is that you can only preserve the detail when you upscale from SD to HD. You don’t really gain any additional information. TV companies like Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic, Sharp, and others refuse to think so and push the boundaries of upscaling so that additional information can be added when the image is upscaled from SD to HD and HD to 4K and so on and so forth. I’ve run a test through the AVANTI ffmpeg GUI.

  Codec : XVID to H.264
  Bitrate : 1640 kbps to 6000 kbps
  Resolution : 640x480 to 1440x1080
  Format : AVI to M4V
  Audio Codec : AC3 to AAC
  Audio Bitrate : 192 kbps
  Audio Frequency : 48000 Hz
  Upscale method : Spline

  Will this upscale method work in any way with converting SD video to HD video. There’s a lot of SD content out that haven’t made the transition to, or probably never will be, HD.

• Only using 1 core when I converting video to tiff sequnce file

  My workspace spec :

  • CPU : Ryzen 1950x
  • GPU : GTX 1080Ti
  • RAM : 128GB
  • SSD : 512GB samsung 960pro
  • OS : window10

  When I convert to tiff sequence file from my video(3min/mp4) CPU only used 1 core with 28 frame per sec.
  If I delete -pix_fmt rgb48le option can used more core and speed up(50 frame per sec).
  but, I need changing color space for making dcp...

  I already tried -threads option (0,1,2,16,32,64...) but still used 1 core.
  and found about GPU acceleration from other forum but I think tiff codec can’t use CUDA.

  ./ffmpeg -i test.mp4 -q:v 1 -aspect 1.85 -s 1988:1080 -an -pix_fmt rgb48le -src_range 1 -dst_range 1 -r 24 \test%010d.tiff

  tiff codec don’t support multi core ?
  if don’t support multi core how can I increase speed for encoding.
