  • Getting either incorrect output resolution or FPS from ffmpeg

    5 novembre 2011, par Adam

    I am capturing an RTSP stream from a security camera, and transcoding it for (live streaming) to iphone, using OSX as the encoding platform.
    I have it working correctly, and Im tuning it.
    However, it seems that it is not outputting the requested resolution. This is my script

    /Applications/SecurityCamera/openRTSP -v -c -t rtsp://10.0.1.118/ch1-s1 | \
       /Applications/SecurityCamera/ffmpeg \
       -r 10 -i - \
       -y -an -ab 64000 -f mpegts -vcodec copy -s 960x640 \
       -flags +loop -cmp +chroma -partitions +parti4x4+partp8x8+partb8x8 \
       -subq 5 -trellis 1 -refs 1 -coder 0 -me_range 16  -keyint_min 25 \
       -sc_threshold 40 -i_qfactor 0.71 -bt 400k -maxrate 524288 -bufsize 524288 \
       -qcomp 0.6 -qmin 10 -qmax 51 -qdiff 4 -level 30 \
       -aspect 960:640 -r 10 -g 10 -async 2 -\
       |/Applications/SecurityCamera/mediastreamsegmenter -b http://localhost:8080/\
         -f /Library/WebServer/Documents/ -i stream.m3u8 -t 10 -s 4 -D

    This is the status report :

    Input #0, h264, from 'pipe:':

     Duration: N/A, bitrate: N/A
     Stream #0.0: Video: h264, yuv420p, 1600x1200, 10 fps, 10 tbr, 1200k tbn, 20 tbc

     Output #0, mpegts, to 'pipe:':

    Stream mapping:
     Stream #0.0 -> #0.0

    You can see that its working, but it is outputting 1600x1200 for some reason. (possibly -vcodec copy copies all codec parameters, not just the codec type ?)

    If I change the -vcodec copy to -vcodec libx264 then I get the correct status report (stating 960x640, correct), but the streaming switches to 2 FPS (why ? Im forcing both input and output !) and it halts after 54 frames (see output below)

    Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 20.00 (20/1) -> 10.00 (20/2)

  • Playing videos on iPhone after video conversion using ffmpeg

    12 juillet 2013, par Shashi

    It is a backend API(developed in Ruby on Rails) which is used by iphone and android mobiles to upload the videos. API is converting uploaded videos to MP4 format. I am using paperclip-ffmpeg gem for video conversion at backend. Here is what I used :

    has_attached_file :video ,
                 :styles=>{
                   :medium=>{ :geometry=>"480x360",:format=>'mp4',:streaming => true,
                       :convert_options => { :output =>
                                           {
                                             :acodec => 'aac',
                                             :ac => 2 ,
                                             :strict => 'experimental',
                                             'b:a' => '160k',

                                             :vcodec => 'libx264',
                                             :preset => 'slow',
                                             'profile:v' => 'baseline',
                                             :level => '30',
                                             :maxrate => '10000000',
                                             :bufsize => '10000000',
                                             'b:v' => '750k',
                                             :f => 'mp4',
                                             :threads => '0'
                                           }
                                       } },
                     :thumb => { :geometry => "160x120", :format => 'jpg', :time => 2 },
                     :thumb_large => { :geometry => "520x390", :format => 'jpg', :time => 2}
                   }, :processors => [:ffmpeg, :qtfaststart],
           :path => path/to/store/video,
           :url => url/of/video

    Problems I am facing are :

    When user uploads videos from android mobile it works perfect on android but does not play on iPhone. One more strange thing happens when user upload videos from iPhone, then it play perfect just after video upload, but after some time(2 or 3 hours) it stops to play those videos.

    How can I get rid of both these issues ? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks

    @Michael, here is the detailed log for the video conversion uploaded by android mobile

  • Force XGA in SDP for H.264

    17 juin 2013, par spicyramen

    I have checked H.264 profile levels and seems to be there is no definition for XGA.
    I have the following scenario :

    My App <---> SIP/H264 <---> Cisco MCU

    Cisco MCU supports a variety of resolutions for Video, our Application encoder only supports XGA : 1024x768 @ 5 frames per second.
    We need to modify our SDP to indicate Cisco MCU to send us only XGA, as it can send us 720p, CIF etc. I have read RFC 3984 but trying to understand which values we can use.
    I have used :

    a=fmtp:126 profile-level-id=428014 ;max-fs=3072 ;max-fps=500

    But no luck.
    Thanks
