  • h264 Licensing, ffmpeg iPhone transcoding

    28 février 2013, par NadavRub

    Requirements

    1. An application that should run, to begin with, on iPhone, and, in the end on a plurality
     of SmartPhone devices.
    2. Aim at having the trans-coding code supporting as much OSs as possible.
    3. Application is commercial.

    Use-case

    I. Record video using the portable SmartPhone Camera application
II. Trans-code the video into a plurality of bit-rates using a cutom app

    iPhone Implementation

    A. To satisfy requirement [2], Implement Trans-coding using C++
    B. Use ffmpeg for trans-coding.

    Problem
    - Using ffmpeg to encode H264 req usage of the x264 lib
    - H264 encoding mandate payment for Licensing.

In order to avoid H264 Licensing
    - The iPhone device ( and many others ) come with built-in H264 encoding capability
    - Usage of the built-in H264 Codec will avoid licensing problems/restrictions

Does ffmpeg, supports, in any way, usage of iPhone's built-in H264 encoder ?

    Any help will be appreciated.

  • Http live streaming for ipad, iphone and safari

23 février 2013, par Riyas Anchal

Anyone help me to find a solution to stream a video from a mac server to iPad, iPhone and mac safari using HTTP live streaming.

    Steps taken :

    1. Installed and configured FFMPEG for encoding
    2. installed the mediasegmenter provided by the Apple.

    The ffmpeg option used is

    ffmpeg -y -i input.mp4 -acodec aac -ar 48000 -ab 128k -ac 2 -s 1024×768 -vcodec libx264 -b 1200k -flags +loop+mv4 -cmp 256 -partitions +parti4x4+partp8x8+partb8x8 -subq 7 -trellis 1 -refs 5 -coder 0 -me_range 16 -keyint_min 25 -sc_threshold 40 -i_qfactor 0.71 -bt 1200k -maxrate 1200k -bufsize 1200k -rc_eq 'blurCplx^(1-qComp)' -qcomp 0.6 -qmin 10 -qmax 51 -qdiff 4 -level 30 -aspect 4:3 -r 30 -g 90 -async 2 output.mp4

I have tried different ffmpeg options to stream the video. In some options it works in Iphone and Safari browser in mac machine, but I didn't get an option for iPad.

I want to stream an mp4 video for ipad, iPhone and mac safari. I also tried it with opensource segmenter .

Have any solution for this ?

    Thanks,

    Riyas

  • ffmpeg on ubuntu convert 3gp to iphone 5 format [closed]

    21 mars 2013, par Jistanidiot

I'm desperately trying to convert a 3GP video into something the iphone 5 will import and play. Verizon says they cannot help me that it is not possible to convert a Droid video to iphone.

After much trouble I came to the conclusion to try the conversion on my Ubuntu box using ffmpeg. Again after a long struggle, I removed the package and followed the directions at https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/wiki/UbuntuCompilationGuide

Now with the new complied ffmpeg, I try the following command :

    ffmpeg -i foo.3gp -s 320x240 -r 30000/1001 -b:v 200k -bt 240k -vcodec libx264 -coder 0 -bf 0 -flags2 -wpred-dct8x8 -level 13 -maxrate 768k -bufsize 3M-acodec libfaac -ac 2 -ar 48000 -ab 192k output.mp4

However I keep getting the error :

[NULL @ 0xa9874a0] Unable to find a suitable output format for 'libfaac' libfaac: Invalid argument

I found a random blog post saying you needed to add

    `-target type’

and then specify target file type (“vcd”, “svcd”, “dvd”, “dv”, “dv50”, “pal-vcd”, “ntsc-svcd”, … ). However after trying all 8 of them listed I still got the same errors.

I'm at a complete loss. How can I convert the 3gp video into the iphone 5 format ?

    Thanks in advance.
