  • Encoding and processing into web-friendly formats

    MediaSPIP automatically converts uploaded files to internet-compatible formats.
    Video files are encoded in MP4, Ogv and WebM (supported by HTML5) and MP4 (supported by Flash).
    Audio files are encoded in MP3 and Ogg (supported by HTML5) and MP3 (supported by Flash).
    Where possible, text is analyzed in order to retrieve the data needed for search engine detection, and then exported as a series of image files.

  • Installation en mode ferme

    Le mode ferme permet d’héberger plusieurs sites de type MediaSPIP en n’installant qu’une seule fois son noyau fonctionnel.
    C’est la méthode que nous utilisons sur cette même plateforme.
    L’utilisation en mode ferme nécessite de connaïtre un peu le mécanisme de SPIP contrairement à la version standalone qui ne nécessite pas réellement de connaissances spécifique puisque l’espace privé habituel de SPIP n’est plus utilisé.

    Les commandes suivantes permettent d’avoir des informations sur les formats et codecs gérés par l’installation local de ffmpeg :
    ffmpeg -codecs ffmpeg -formats
    Les format videos acceptés en entrée

  • ffmpeg and 0 second audio latency for audio through wowza in flv format

    how can I get ffmpeg to stream audio with no latency ? ironically I have video working faster than audio. my Wowza is tuned for low latency and works. the following audio line gives me 1 second latency, the flash player is already 0 buffer size.

       ffmpeg -re -rtbufsize 1k  -f dshow -channels 1 -ar 22100 -i audio="Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)" -strict -2

  • Quicktime Eats Cookies

    It appears that when embedding Quicktime in a webpage, being viewed by Safari 4 in Snow Leopard, Quicktime no longer passes cookies to the server. So, if you’re having the Quicktime plugin load a file that uses cookie data to verify permissions, you’ll need to move to a query string model.

    This only happens when Safari is running in 64bit mode, so I imagine it has to do with the "plugins running as separate entities" crash protection that Snow Leopard adds.

    This does not appear to impact the Flash plugin.

    This installment includes a bunch of old, discontinued Adobe software as well as some Flash-related mutlimedia software.

    Screen Time for Flash Screen Saver Factory
    "Create High Impact Screen Savers Using Macromedia Flash."



    Requirements include Windows 3.1, 95 or NT 3.5.1. A 486 computer is required to play the resulting screensavers which are Flash projectors using Macromedia Flash 3.0.

    Monster Interactive Instant GUI 2
    Create eye-popping GUIs more easily for use in Flash. Usability experts would argue that this is not a good thing.



    Adobe Dimensions 3.0
    "The Easy Yet Powerful 3D Rendering Tool." This software was end-of-life’d in late 2004-early 2005 (depending on region).



    Adobe ImageStyler
    "Instantly add style to your Web site." Wikipedia claims that this product was sold from 1998 to 2000 when it was superseded by Adobe LiveMotion (see below).



    Google is able to excavate a link to the Latin American site for Adobe ImageStyler, a page that doesn’t seem to be replicated in any other language.
