  • Why JPEG image looks different in two videos ?

    28 septembre 2015, par user606521

    I have two frames :

    f1.jpg
    f1.jpg
    f2.jpg
    f2.jpg

    And I am creating two videos :

    ./ffmpeg -i ./f%d.jpg -r 30 -y m1.mp4 # both frames 1 and 2
    ./ffmpeg -i ./f2.jpg -r 30 -y m2.mp4 # only frame 2

    For some reason frame 2 looks different in these two videos

    f2_out.jpg

    It seems that frame 2 looks different when combined with frame 1 in a video. One thing I noticed that when dumping frames from m1.mp4 (two frames combined) there is a warning in ffmpeg output :

    [swscaler @ 0x7f7f9a000600] deprecated pixel format used, make sure you did set range correctly

    Also two frame images have same dimmensions (980x100) and their format seems to be same :

    $ file -b f1.jpg
    JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01, comment: "CS=ITU601??"
    $ file -b f2.jpg
    JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01

    So why this is happening ? I am struggling with this issue for quite a long time - for some reason some JPEGs somehow are in different "format ?" than others and make mess in videos...

    You can download first two images included in this question and test commands on your own.

  • ffmpeg command failed

    25 octobre 2015, par Asad kamran

    I am experimenting FFMPEG command to convert any video format to mp4.

    Server admin execute the below command created by me and show me the errors :

    ffmpeg -ss 00:03:00  -i  /video/1444107854.mov -c:v libx264 /video/player/1444107854.mp4  -vframes 1 /video/thumb/1444107854.jpg

    This is error :

    [aac @ 0x2b845a0] The encoder ’aac’ is experimental but experimental
    codecs are not enabled, add ’-strict -2’ if you want to use it.

    how can i avoid this error and also experimental codec, so can any one let me know what can be best codec if i explicitly specify it.

    my ffmpeg and server are as follow :

    ffmpeg version N-75903-g14573b9 Copyright (c) 2000-2015 the FFmpeg
    developers built with gcc 4.4.7 (GCC) 20120313 (Red Hat 4.4.7-16)

    EDIT 1 :
    I change the command a bit and add -c:a copy to copy audio stream as it is but still no hope :

    New command :

    ffmpeg -ss 00:03:00  -i  /video/1444107854.mov -c:v libx264 -c:a copy /video/player/1444107854.mp4  -vframes 1 /video/thumb/1444107854.jpg

    After executing this i got a file of 23k size, apparently as in log it only copy audio stream and no video is added in final output.
    Its Log is as follow :

  • Manipulating one video into multi outputs with FFmpeg results in no audio in the last output

    27 octobre 2015, par my name is

    Using FFmpeg, I’m trying to do some filtering operations on one input video to scale it (out1), scale and trim it (out2).
    This is the command I’m using :

    ffmpeg -y \
    -i "Robotica_1080.mkv" \
    -filter_complex "[0:v]split=2[v1][v2]; \
    [v1]scale=640:360,setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[vout1]; \
    [v2]trim=10:15,scale=640:360,setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[vout2]; \
    [0:a]asplit=2[a1][a2]; \
    [a1]anull,asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[aout1]; \
    [a2]atrim=10:15,asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[aout2]; \
    [vout1][aout1]concat=n=1:v=1:a=1[out1]; \
    [vout2][aout2]concat=n=1:v=1:a=1[out2]" \
    -map "[out1]" "1.mp4" \
    -map "[out2]" "2.mp4"

    1.mp4 is ok while 2.mp4 lasts 5 seconds as expected but without audio at all (the QuickTime inspector doesn’t write the audio codec)

    I tried to remove the trim/atrim filters, so the filter_complex parameter looked like this :

    -filter_complex "[0:v]split=2[v1][v2]; \
    [v1]scale=640:360[vout1]; \
    [v2]scale=640:360[vout2]; \
    [0:a]asplit=2[a1][a2]; \
    [a1]anull[aout1]; \
    [a2]anull[aout2]; \
    [vout1][aout1]concat=n=1:v=1:a=1[out1]; \
    [vout2][aout2]concat=n=1:v=1:a=1[out2]" \

    but still no audio on 2.mp4

    Can anyone give me a hint ?

    —EDIT—
    This is the output from first ffmpeg command :
