Screen recording with ffmpeg has stuttering [closed]

Problem :

My gpu(20%), cpu (50%), disk utilisation is always in well perfect range - I tried stress testing gpu, ram, cpu and disk while recording and it had no effect on the recording. I tried recording to ramdisk. I always have 10gb ram available. I ran the same command on my laptop (hp 850 g5) and computer and encountered no stuttering at all.


If it matters the machine is running bare Xorg and openbox display manager


I have tried :


- 

- setting fps_mode to cfr - because the frame rate does fluctuate around 29-30 at the start
- setting fps_mode to vfr
- setting fps_mode to passthrough
- setting cfr all the way to 40
- presets veryfast, faster
- increasing thread_queue_size
- async=1

How to join webcam FLVs
18 mars 2015, par Marc-André LafortuneI want my website to join some webcam recordings in FLV files (like this one). This needs to be done on Linux without user input. How do I do this ? For simplicity’s sake, I’ll use the same flv as both inputs in hope of getting a flv that plays the same thing twice in a row.
That should be easy enough, right ? There’s even a full code example in the ffmpeg FAQ.
Well, pipes seem to be giving me problems (both on my mac running Leopard and on Ubuntu 8.04) so let’s keep it simple and use normal files. Also, if I don’t specify a rate of 15 fps, the visual part plays extremely fast. The example script thus becomes :

a) Why doesn’t the example script work as advertised, in particular why do I not get all the video I’m expecting ?
b) Why do I have to specify a framerate while Wimpy player can play the flv at the right speed ?
The only way I found to join two flvs was to use mencoder. Problem is, mencoder doesn’t seem to join flvs :

So the only way I’ve found so far to join flvs, is to use ffmpeg to go back and forth between flv and avi, and use mencoder to join the avis :

e) Because of the problem of the framerate, though, only flvs with constant framerate (like the one I recorded through facebook) will be converted correctly to avis, but this won’t work for the flvs I seem to be recording (like this one or this one). Is there a way to do this for these flvs too ?

I do some configs like set manual mode for the camera, change exposure/brightness and saving frame.
Also the camera is probably catching the frames to the buffer (it is not saving latest frame in real time : it's more laggish), so I have to clear buffer every time. like this

What I really don't like, but I could find a better way (tldr : setting buffer for 1 frame doesn't work on my camera).


Frames saved this method looks good with 1920x1080 resolution. BUT when I try to run

command to make a timelapse from savedjpg
file like this

Also when I try to copy the files from Linux to Windows I get some weird copy failing error and option to skip the picture. But even when I press the skip button, the picture is copied and can be opened. I'm not sure what is wrong with the format, but the camera is supporting MPEG at 1920x1080.

I also tried to save the picture using

It is saving the picture but also changing its format

I'm not sure what could be wrong with the format/camera and I don't think I have enough information to figure it out.


I tried to use
ffmpeg
instead ofopencv
and also change a few settings inopencv's cup
config.
