How to detect anamorphic video with FFProbe ?
29 mai 2015, par FlavorScapeThis is the output I get using FFProbe for a video I’m certain is anamorphic. I’ve converted it as a test with ffmpeg and the results are consistent with the video having a different PAR and DAR (video is squished). I ran some command line params to fix anamorphic video and it worked. Possibly my diagnosis is incorrect, the PAR and DAR are just plain wrong ?
The code I used to "correct" the anamamorphic is
--custom-anamorphic --display-width 1280 --keep-display-aspect --modulus 8 --crop 0:0:0:0
Is there an additional command with FFProbe to detect for anamorphic ? So far I’m just seeing if the sample_aspect_ratio and display_aspect_ratio are the same or not.
Additionally, a ratio of 0:1 seems incorrect. My video is not infinitely wide. Is there a bug with FFProbe output ?
This is the command
-print_format json -show_format -show_streams {originalFilePath}

ffmpeg frame rate issue h264+ass to mkv
27 juin 2013, par user2529661I'm using this command for ffmpeg :
ffmpeg -i 1.h264 -i ass1.ass -map 0 -map 1 -c copy test.mkv
The h264 file is 30 fps... the mkv plays at 25fps so it runs slow
The h264 come off my hd webcam. If i change the frame rate on the camera to 25 it works fine and 15fps wilk play at high speed. I can force the frame rate ? Every if i need a different command line tool to change it that is acceptable. But if i could fix it form ffmpeg that would be ideal. I'm running the commands from vb.net.
command output
C:\Record\Normal\2013-06-27>c:\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg -i 1.h264 -i ass1.ass -map 0 -
map 1 -c copy test.mkv

How to concatenate two videos w. ffmpeg — documented code not working
2 mars 2014, par Jim MillerI'm trying to concatenate two videos with ffmpeg. Nothing fancy ; I just want one video that consists of video A immediately followed by video B.
I've tried the code from How to concatenate (join, merge) media files on a freshly built and otherwise-working-fine install of ffmpeg 1.2.1 on Fedora 17, but the following error message appears :
$ ffmpeg -i video_a.mov -i video_b.mov -filter_complex '[0:0] [0:1] [1:0] [1:1] concat=n=2:v=1:a=1 [v] [a]' -map '[v]' -map '[a]' output.mp4

Stream specifier ':0' in filtergraph description [0:0] [0:1] [1:0] [1:1] concat=n=2:v=1:a=1 [v] [a] matches no streams.A few other things to note :
- The two videos I'm working with were shot with the same camera, so there shouldn't be any problems with aspect ratio or other gory video details.
- I'm able to do other things with my ffmpeg installation, like convert one of those videos from .mov to .mp4 (yes, I had to recompile with faac...), which seems to vouch for both the ffmpeg and the video.
- I've tried modifying the above invocation to produce a .mov file at the end, but I get the same error as before.
- I've tried some stupid hacking tricks on the request above, like concatenating two copies of the same video, as well as some other invocations from other places around the web that involve
filter_complex
. Even on ones that were cited as working, I get the "matches no streams" message.
