  • Transcode each stream in a different thread with ffmpeg

    30 mai 2018, par hedgar2017

Is there a way of forcing ffmpeg to encode each audio stream in a different thread ?

    ffmpeg
       -i audio1.ac3 -c:a libopus
       -i audio2.ac3 -c:a libopus
       -i audio3.ac3 -c:a libopus
       output.mkv

I mean only ffmpeg’s own instruments, without multiple processes and other OS features.

Normally, there is only one core saturated, so encoding a file with many audio streams is very long.

    Exact command :

    ffmpeg -loglevel verbose
       -i 'Ярость (Fury).mkv'
       -i 'Fury (2014) [Ukr & Eng, Sub Eng] BDRip-AVC [Hurtom & HELLYWOOD].mkv'
       -threads 0 -max_muxing_queue_size 65536 -avoid_negative_ts 1 -metadata title=2014.Fury.BDRip.HEVC.1080p
       -map 0:0 -c:v copy -metadata:s:v:0 title=2014.Fury.BDRip.HEVC.1080p -disposition:v:0 +defaug-[forced
       -map 0:2 -c:a libopus -application audio -vbr on -packet_loss 0 -frame_duration 20 -mapping_family 255 -compression_level 10 -metadata:s:a:0 language=eng -metadata:s:a:0 title=Original -disposition:a:0 +defaug-[forced

       -map 0:10 -c:s copy -metadata:s:s:0 language=eng -metadata:s:s:0 title=Original -disposition:s:0 -default-forced

fps is always around 3000/number_of_audio_channels, meaning all audio transcoding is done with the only thread.

  • Only using 1 core when I converting video to tiff sequnce file

    20 août 2019, par gsk

    My workspace spec :

    • CPU : Ryzen 1950x
    • GPU : GTX 1080Ti
    • RAM : 128GB
    • SSD : 512GB samsung 960pro
    • OS : window10

When I convert to tiff sequence file from my video(3min/mp4) CPU only used 1 core with 28 frame per sec.
If I delete -pix_fmt rgb48le option can used more core and speed up(50 frame per sec).
but, I need changing color space for making dcp...

I already tried -threads option (0,1,2,16,32,64...) but still used 1 core.
and found about GPU acceleration from other forum but I think tiff codec can’t use CUDA.

    ./ffmpeg -i test.mp4 -q:v 1 -aspect 1.85 -s 1988:1080 -an -pix_fmt rgb48le -src_range 1 -dst_range 1 -r 24 \test%010d.tiff

tiff codec don’t support multi core ?
if don’t support multi core how can I increase speed for encoding.
    thank you.

  • Audio stuttering every couple of seconds

    27 juin 2019, par Glutch

I’m merging a video (recorded with ffmpeg, good quality, all solid), with a musicfile.mp3. However every couple of seconds the music stutters and skips slightly. Which seems very strange since simply adding music on top of a video sounds like the engine could relax and take its time, creating no artifacts. (In comparison to recording live desktop footage). Can anyone help me sort this out ?
